For domestic use, the gallon size doesn't matter, but the suction power should be larger to pull the dirts/broken glass pieces from the corners. Basically it should be powerful enough to suck the hard dirts but still compact enough to store in a closet.
I am a new home owner and the home has a garage, front and backyard and 2 stories. Would i need this and what's it's uses? I have a normal vacuum cleaner but need another one.
If you want to drain the sump efficiently, get a "trash pump." If you plan on using a vac for sump and other cleanups get a 16 gal at least.

it was $79 last week, I picked one up for dedicated miter saw dust collection with a cyclone. It's pretty good and takes bags like the rest of them, but no bags were included

How good for vacuuming cars?
I bought a Hart/Vacmaster vacuum that looked similar and it was useless. Could not consciously sell it, had to give it away.
