Reduced price, slightly, as the price history of the Pixel 8 fluctuates from $550 to the MSRP of $700. Reduced features, substantial. Definitely noticeable in everyday usage due to the smaller battery, smaller screen and bigger bezels. The cameras will produce about the same image in most lighting conditions, but they are different as can be seen in the first image in this [digitaltrends.com] camera comparison between the Pixel 7 and 7a.

If you aren't comfortable or interested in refurbished models a new Pixel 8 is readily available on eBay new for $550, if you don't want to wait for the monthly price reduction to $550 on most major retailers.

For a price difference of $50 the reduced features are not worth the savings. This coming from someone who has purchased the Pixel 3a and Pixel 5a. The Pixel a series make sense when the price difference is $100 or more, not when it is $50.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/156049923609 Pixel 8 low as $399.99 Excellent Refurbished 1 year warranty

Based on your logic, you ripped yourself off buying the 2XL even back then
I'm not a power user. The 2XL is more than sufficient for my needs. My original intent when purchasing it was to use it for just a year and then get a newer flagship. But I was so impressed with how snappy 2XL was that I decided not to get another phone.

Just purchased. Wish they had the lower storage sizes to save a few bucks as I think half a TB is overkill. But def a step up from my temp pixel3 since my 6pro took a shit last year (completely self inflicted!).

Installing Lineage with a Magisk module to enable Pixel features may also be viable. Also, the Pixel 2 lineup has unlimited original photo/video backups, iirc
I believe it's just the OG Pixel now that gets unlimited original photo/video.

i have pixel 7 pro for 8 months now i would avoid, it's not a quality phone compare to Samsung Galaxy. I only paid $320 as part of Mint deal.

It's cheap for a reason.

It will get OS Updates until Android 16. We are on Android 14 currently.
Here is where you can look it up. Slight nuance between OS updates and Security updates.

I got my brand new Pixel 7 Pro for $99 from a slick deal. Although, it is locked to Mint Mobile for 12 months. The phone has been amazing and I love the camera. The deal was too good to pass up. $500 seems high to me but the extra storage could be useful to some.
Is that Mint offer still available?

I will say Google moving to 7 years of SW support is one of the few things they have done well in the last few years because it forced the other Android vendors (in the US) to raise the bar so now Samsung matched and OPO has upped the ante. Motorola is just disposable it seems I remember Lenovo giving maybe one update...

In any case with this phone done w/ updates in a little over a year maybe a few more bucks for an 8 series for folks who hold onto their devices may make more financial sense. Google just destroys resale value. When I bought P7P at launch and the 8 came out they were offering like $230 TIV and $300 for a bit so watch out. I upgraded to the 8 for a month and I couldn't deal with the continued modem issues and when the S24 came out I swapped it at AT&T. Best decision I have made in a few years but know the reason I moved to Pixel is because the S22 was such a POS. So I guess its model by model but outside the modem issues the 8 is an excellent phone...

nope. depreciation is 50% a year. needs to be 200-300 by now.
I also only buy the base models for each.

so no deal brah. I'm after the camera not your over priced storage. camera itself may start being too expensive to buy just pixel for too.
Yeah I got the 128gb model Pixel 7 Pro 2 black Friday ago for about this price by buying the iPhone 11 for $200 and trading it in for $525 credit toward the Pixel at Best Buy.

Definitely should be $300 by now to reach the "Slickdeal" threshold.

It's been a solid phone though, and the multitasking (12GB) kicks the crap out of my partners iPhone 14 Pro Max (6GB).
