This is my go to repair kit as a desktop technician. It has pretty much everything you'd ever need for phones tablets and computers. The quality is great. Sure there are other cheapo brands. Three things I like about it (I have a kit at home and at work) are the grounding armband, the magnetic section of the case, and that you can pull out the box of driver bits separately -and the lid has a bunch of sectioned squares with a raised edge to place screws you remove and keep the ordered for reinstallation.

The different tweezers are also extremely good quality (especially compared to cheaper sets)

This may not be the cheapest set, but if you are looking for one toolkit for repairing electronics this is it.
iFixIt is worth supporting if you can afford it, but this Harbor Freight has a similar kit for $38 and they often have coupons: https://www.harborfreight.com/ele...59258.html
Not sure this is worth $60. Thanks for posting anyway.

I purchased this kit last time it was posted here for $16 and have been pretty happy with it. For whatever that's worth

This kit is overpriced, most of the bits/ tools aren't that useful.

Add s2 steel to your search on any kit on amazon, they're usually pretty decent.

What you're trying to avoid is chrome vanadium which are a bit softer and wear out/ strip.

Anyway the quality of a kit will be very apparent by eye, so just buy whatever s2 kit on amazon, and inspect it. you'll see it, if the bits look poorly formed or not uniform, just return it.

There's nothing inherently special about wiha. The only truly special screw drivers, are some stuff used for watch repair, everything else just needs to be good enough.

I also want to add that the ifixit bit holder (driver) is poorly designed, it's too heavy, for small bits, it's important you can feel the torque so you don't overtighten/ strip a small screw, that is not possible with a holder that's heavy. It "feels nice" in the hand and is heavy, but this is not the proper design for detailed work.

I bought this for $40 five or six years ago and if someone swiped it from me I'd happily pay $60 to replace it.

I have literally never found myself trying to repair something electronic and coming up missing a tool. Everything is high quality and well warrantied in case there actually is any kind of problem.

And something to keep in mind is that iFixIt offers a TON of free resources for how to repair your devices, and has done a lot to fight for "right to repair" legislation that helps people be able to fix the things they own. Buying this kit instead of a cheaper version helps support an extremely consumer-friendly company.

TIL, thanks for sharing. I'm always curious when people have insider info like this. How did you come across this tidbit?

Had a $10 Best Buy reward cert and pulled the trigger to replace my old set.

I have had this same kit for about 8-9 years now, have misplaced the forceps and jacked up spudging tools by abusing them, so the refresh is welcomed.

All of the bits have stayed in perfect form (unlike similar SKIL sets where things have twisted and lost form) and the actual handle is amazing with the little twist thing working just as perfect as day 1. Having some extra bits and another handle I can throw in my bag or vehicle will be awesome.

I used to think it was an overpriced kit, until I used one at work and bought my own the next day. Even at full price, the time I have owned it comes out to < $10/year for something that has saved me countless headaches.

Buy nice or buy twice! Get this rather than the SKIL or Harbor Freight ones where you'll end up having to buy this later when those fail.

Great tools and kits, good value for the money.
I own every tool they have and never had any issues. Customer service has been great with questions.

I own a lesser model, so far I'm pretty satisfied. I even contacted support and they gave me a 15% off coupon for their site, so I could place my order, super nice staff. :-)

Will iFixit honor the lifetime warranty if purchased from Amazon/BestBuy/Walmart or is that only if purchased directly from their store?

I always thought these were overrated because I got by for years on a random assortment of cheaper sets. When I needed a MacBook Pro bit in a pinch, I bought the smaller version of this set at Best Buy. It ended up really impressing me. The case it's stored in is high quality and a super efficient use of space. Got rid of a lot of old crap tools and the basic set has been more than enough for me so far. Wish I had the bigger one though haha.

I have Harbor Freight bit set. Chewed up a torx bit just like week trying undo a screw. Their bits are cheap metal. Had to grab old set of Wiha I brought awhile ago to remove the screw (My iFixt kit was at work).
You get what you pay for.
It's literally the same product from the same factory with some variations in the pryring tools. Both are rebadges. I've compared them in hand.

Get the Harbor Freight if you want to save money. Get the iFixit only if you want to support the company but I personally think it's stupid to just donate $25 to a company instead of using what you saved to buy their other products.
