Features:
  • The JV Modified Series combines classic aesthetics with modern playability to suit the needs of today's guitarist. Taking cues from the now highly sought-after "Japanese Vintage" reissues from the early '80s, JV Modified guitars are a refined take on a modern classic.
  • The '50s Stratocaster HSS has a resonant basswood body and features a pair of vintage-voiced single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions and a powerful humbucking pickup in the bridge position. A push-pull pot on Tone 2 splits the humbucking pickup for sparkling single-coil sounds, making this Strat extremely versatile. • For the player seeking classic Fender instruments with a twist, the JV Modified Series delivers a unique combination of vintage Fender style and modern playability.

They're not really used. They are being sold as such because Fender has a price floor and won't let authorized dealers sell them as new below the MSRP. Like Muni2773 said, ProAudio does the same thing all the time. That being said, I'll go ahead and update the title.
Made in Japan Fenders wipe the floor with American made guitars. People don't know what they are missing. Even at $1359, the quality to price ratio was high and $749 is incredible value. If I didn't already own multiple MIJ guitars, I would jump on this.

I may just be a MIJ guitar fanboy, so take my opinion for what you will but I also own American Fender.

So, when Franklin says, "We have many of this guitar. Pictures are representative of what you'll get," that means it's liquidation stock, new and in-box? Franklin says it sells new guitars, but I haven't see anything listed as brand new before.
Not always. Generally, their "mint" guitars are overstocks they get from the dealer. These guitars are supposed to be in new condition and do not need any repair or refurbishment. However, sometimes the manufacturers request FGW to stamp "used" and a different serial number on the headstock, to distinguish them from the ones sold by authorized dealers at the regular price, for example, the "mint" Hagstrom guitars currently on sale. FGW always provides pictures of the headstock.

Other times, FGW does not need to stamp anything on certain models, maybe because these models will be discontinued by the manufacturer. In such cases, the guitar should be new-in-box, for instance, the Aerodyne, Cory Wong, and this one. Op took the time to find a decent new guitar at a great price from their long listings. It is not just "technically a deal." This is a real deal, at least in my opinion.

Just received this guitar from this slickdeal. Arrived in an unopened box in factory fresh condition. No fret issues. Very nicely set up.

Just got mine.
Is your bridge not sitting flush with the body and off the top of the guitar at an angle?
Not sure if that's how they are setup, or mine is not right?
Also, hard to keep in tune
Thx

Yes, The bridge is raised about 1/8" above the body at the tail end out of the box. That allows it to move up AND down to change pitch. If it was flush with the body it would only allow bend pitch down with the whammy bar. It's a preference thing. This can be adjusted through spring changes and other screw adjustments. Check out YouTube vids on strat trem setup for a lot more info and visuals. For example, see That Pedal Show, The Perfect Stratocaster Trem / Vibrato Setup video as an example.

It took about a week in my "watch list", but I also finally received the offer of $681 from FGW for watching this on Reverb. $750 was already a great deal, $681 is an absolute steal.

Just wanted to say thanks for sharing this deal. I've been wanting a strat for years. I had no idea these existed, but it's perfect for me. Got it Monday!

Japanese made guitars are top notch. Really just as good as USA counterparts. Upgrade the pickups and keep it forever at this price. Also, I got an offer of $681 from FGW for watching this on Reverb, so definitely worth adding to your watch list if you're in the market. I'd strongly consider buying if I hadn't recently bought a strat.
Hold up hold up. What is FGW? How did you do this?? hahah
I'm still happy with paying "full praice" 750, but still!

FGW is Franklin Guitar Works, the seller on reverb that is offering it at $750. It seems if you add it to your watch list and sit on it a few days they will offer it to you at $681 or roughly 10% off the already "sale" price of $750. Of course ymmv and nothing is a guarantee but from multiple posts in here it seems like they are giving the deal out to all after a few days to a week of it in your watch list.

Looks like they just officially dropped the price to $679, so I'm guessing they're clearing remaining stock.

These were such a huge bust at 1359. So many littered the used pages too. But at 749, that's probably the correct price it always should have been.

Still unsure. 50s strat with a humbucker seems off.

But then again, if they relabeled it as "Pawn Shop Series 2" I'd probably be gushing over an HSS 50s strat from japan. lol.
100% agree. No way at $1359.. At $679 is where they should have started to begin with. These are slightly above par with a Fender Player MIM which are routinely on sale at the $600 - $700 range.

There is such a glut of Fenders out there at the moment that you can find mint used American Strats HSS w/ a hard case for $800 - $1000 range.

Only thing I would add about this guitar, is that I had to get it professionally set up. Would not stay in tune at all. So those of you who cannot do their own set up, that will have to be added to the cost.

Wow! That extra 10% off deal would make this very slick.
