Description from Fender.com [fender.com]:
The JV Modified Series combines classic aesthetics with modern playability to suit the needs of today's guitarist. Taking cues from the now highly sought-after "Japanese Vintage" reissues from the early '80s, JV Modified guitars are a refined take on a modern classic.
The '50s Stratocaster HSS has a resonant basswood body and features a pair of vintage-voiced single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions and a powerful humbucking pickup in the bridge position. A push-pull pot on Tone 2 splits the humbucking pickup for sparkling single-coil sounds, making this Strat extremely versatile. The Soft "V"-shaped maple neck has a silky-smooth satin finish and the 9.5" radius maple fingerboard and medium jumbo frets provide effortless playability.
For the player seeking classic Fender instruments with a twist, the JV Modified Series delivers a unique combination of vintage Fender style and modern playability.

I may just be a MIJ guitar fanboy, so take my opinion for what you will but I also own American Fender.

Other times, FGW does not need to stamp anything on certain models, maybe because these models will be discontinued by the manufacturer. In such cases, the guitar should be new-in-box, for instance, the Aerodyne, Cory Wong, and this one. Op took the time to find a decent new guitar at a great price from their long listings. It is not just "technically a deal." This is a real deal, at least in my opinion.

Thanks for this. I check FGW all the time. Good to hear the ways to sus out a better than average deal.
Just got mine.
Is your bridge not sitting flush with the body and off the top of the guitar at an angle?
Not sure if that's how they are setup, or mine is not right?
Also, hard to keep in tune
Thx

Yes, The bridge is raised about 1/8" above the body at the tail end out of the box. That allows it to move up AND down to change pitch. If it was flush with the body it would only allow bend pitch down with the whammy bar. It's a preference thing. This can be adjusted through spring changes and other screw adjustments. Check out YouTube vids on strat trem setup for a lot more info and visuals. For example, see That Pedal Show, The Perfect Stratocaster Trem / Vibrato Setup video as an example.
Thanks for the info. Great vids! Will adjust

I'm still happy with paying "full praice" 750, but still!

FGW is Franklin Guitar Works, the seller on reverb that is offering it at $750. It seems if you add it to your watch list and sit on it a few days they will offer it to you at $681 or roughly 10% off the already "sale" price of $750. Of course ymmv and nothing is a guarantee but from multiple posts in here it seems like they are giving the deal out to all after a few days to a week of it in your watch list.
Worked for me. Great guitar
Still unsure. 50s strat with a humbucker seems off.
But then again, if they relabeled it as "Pawn Shop Series 2" I'd probably be gushing over an HSS 50s strat from japan. lol.
There is such a glut of Fenders out there at the moment that you can find mint used American Strats HSS w/ a hard case for $800 - $1000 range.

Wow! That extra 10% off deal would make this very slick.
