The original Thief games are some of the best in the stealth genre I've played. The world and immersion are fantastic. Definitely showing their age, though. The "Thief Fix" mods really improve things.

The Cradle was flat out terrifying.

Also the first zombie level in the Hammer's prison. You're this weak thief who can't go in guns akimbo so you feel exceptionally vulnerable.

I can remember knocking everyone out on one level and stacking all of the bodies in the same closet.

These really were the cutting edge for stealth gaming. The story lines were also enjoyable.

Shalebridge cradle is one of my core gaming memories. I had to put the game down for a few weeks while playing.
