Contrary to popular belief, Keurig coffee can be decent. The biggest problem with it is ratio and brew speed.

I suggest (for those looking to make decent K-cup coffee) you get a machine with a 6oz setting. Many K-cups out there are in the 9-10 gram range, for which 8oz of water is a stretch and 10-12oz is just a shame. The K-Express has a 6oz setting.

I also suggest a brewer with the "strong" setting, which allows some quasi-blooming and slows down the brew substantially, resulting in greater extraction. The K-Supreme has this setting and it works well (it also has the multi-stream brew head which slightly enhance evenness of extraction). That's the machine I have.

The last thing is, don't get crappy K-cups. Try Peet's Major Dickason's blend. It has enough grams in it for an 8oz brew--my wife even stretches them to 10oz and it still tastes acceptable. Whatever you get, pay attention to how many grams are in the K-cup and choose your oz setting accordingly (multiply grams of coffee by 2/3, for a rough calculation in water ounces... so 9g is 6oz, 10.5g is 7oz, 12g is 8oz, etc). A 2oz change can be a massive flavor shift sometimes, so play around with it.

The nice thing about K-cups is you have a long time before they go bad since they are individually sealed. No, it's not as good as recently-roasted, freshly-ground, properly-brewed coffee... but nor does it have to be the nasty, watery, light brown water than many Keurig users have become accustomed to.
Might as well walk over to Colombia and pick your own coffee beans
It is a real coffee maker and makes perfectly good hot coffee. The iced function makes stronger coffee so, when the ice melts, it still tastes like coffee. Works great.
We bought it during the HSN(?) special offer. Use it daily. Great deal.

Watery coffee, better to get a real coffee maker, do your own flavors, poor some ice in and call it a day.

Seems like a very good deal if you need another Keurig. It has a water reservoir unlike other low-end models which have to be filled every time.

I don't know if it's a problem with my machine (K-supreme), but the iced function cuts the volume down significantly (so a 6oz results in more like 4oz, etc.), in addition to using lower-temp water, so it messes with my ratios. I have to bump up to the next setting for it to not taste super under-extracted. Does your volume change on that setting too?

The iced button is supposed to cut down on the amount of coffee you get to compensate for ice melt and so your coffee isn't as weak. Some keurig machines also start brewing hot when you press the iced button (for extraction) and the cool down some towards the end.

There's a slim model that lets you select different brew sizes for iced coffee. What happens is the iced button effectively cuts your brew size in half on this model and also adjusts the temperature at the end for less ice melt. I don't think other models let you adjust the brew size for iced coffee. 6oz iced brew size seems to be the standard for most machines.

Keurig mentions nothing about the amount of coffee, only the brew temperature, in their support literature about the iced settings. I didn't think mine was working correctly, but maybe their support and engineering just don't talk to each other enough? Haha.

"Available on select Keurig® Coffee Makers, the Brew Over Ice or Iced setting is specifically designed to deliver rich, full flavor when brewing K-Cup® pods over ice. When you select the Brew Over Ice setting, your Keurig® Coffee Maker will start your brew with hot water in order to extract the maximum amount of flavor from the coffee grounds. At precisely the right moment, it will then switch to cool water. This prevents excessive ice melting, preserving the flavor of your favorite variety."

How does the OVER ICE feature work?
Published on Aug 22, 2023
The Brew Over Ice button makes a 12 oz beverage that is designed to account for ice melt, starting hotter to help extract full flavor, then cooling down for less ice melt. The volume of coffee dispensed is 6 oz.

Not saying you don't have a defective machine, just providing you information.

I was recently looking into a Keurig that could do iced but I'm leaning towards the K-Iced rather than this K-Slim + Iced since it seems to be more feature full and takes up much less space. This model specifically seems to be quite deep for putting on a counter

Aha, thanks!! This makes way more sense now. I hadn't seen them mention the actual volume intentionally changing in their previous information on this. So, this definitely needs a different ratio than what I mentioned in my earlier post (which is for hot coffee). For instance, I wouldn't brew 12 grams of coffee with only 4oz of water. Maybe there's a middle ground, but I'd highly recommend the proper method of regular brewing and then cooling the coffee before adding ice. (I can't speak to the K-cups that are designed to be used with the iced setting... perhaps they fare quite well on a shorter ratio.)
