Read the Silo series years ago. If you like dystopian sci fi, definitely worth a shot.
Silo series is great, but be advised you can buy the book DRM FREE from the author's website for not much at all.

It's a 3 book series. The Apple TV show is wayyyy too slow paced imo. Season 1 of the show is done by about page 75 in the first book.

How similar to the show are the books past the general setting?

I liked the show and wish I had read the books first.

I haven't watched the show yet

Yeah, library apps have lots of books for free (well, mostly paid for by taxes & donations). The drawback is that you might need to wait in line for an ebook, you could only borrow the ebook for a limited duration, & your ebook notes are not permanently saved.

I prefer Barnes & Noble Nook over Amazon Kindle, because Amazon is turning into a corporate monopoly with excess influence over politics.

The reason why I buy ebooks or paper books is because I want a copy for the long-term. Sometimes I read a book slowly to better understand it. Sometimes I need to repeatedly check out the data in the book. Sometimes I want to financially support the author.
There are ways around the 2 week limit for borrows. Some people consider them "bad" so I won't go into detail. It's not difficult to figure out on your own.

The books are far superior. I kind of enjoyed the show but it felt a bit dull compared to the real story. The Silo Saga still goes down as one of my favorite SF reads of all time.

I don't think it's in any way a bad thing, as it doesn't prevent the next person in line from borrowing the book, but if you don't exit out of an opened title on your Kindle you can take all the time you need reading it.

Haha. I will talk about the "bad" techniques of borrowing library's ebooks.

Are you talking about making illegal copies with 3rd party software? How about folder changes to confuse the library app? Disconnecting your ebook device from the Internet, thus the library app cannot get online updates?

Another person here said you could keep the ebook constantly open to continually borrow the ebook for any duration.

If you liked the show, read the books. They're not long & you shouldn't have a problem catching up. I'd read them so long ago, I couldn't remember how they played out differently than the show, but I felt like the show was pretty close.

I'll simply say that keeping my Kindle in airplane mode while reading saves battery

I bought the entire collection for $2 not too long ago on Kindle as well:

Apparently I did too.

I also bought the single book this morning.

Oops.
