It's a 3 book series. The Apple TV show is wayyyy too slow paced imo. Season 1 of the show is done by about page 75 in the first book.

I liked the show and wish I had read the books first.
I haven't watched the show yet
I prefer Barnes & Noble Nook over Amazon Kindle, because Amazon is turning into a corporate monopoly with excess influence over politics.
The reason why I buy ebooks or paper books is because I want a copy for the long-term. Sometimes I read a book slowly to better understand it. Sometimes I need to repeatedly check out the data in the book. Sometimes I want to financially support the author.

I don't think it's in any way a bad thing, as it doesn't prevent the next person in line from borrowing the book, but if you don't exit out of an opened title on your Kindle you can take all the time you need reading it.
Are you talking about making illegal copies with 3rd party software? How about folder changes to confuse the library app? Disconnecting your ebook device from the Internet, thus the library app cannot get online updates?
Another person here said you could keep the ebook constantly open to continually borrow the ebook for any duration.
