Also curious about this. I've never used a fish finder but recently got a kayak for the ocean and was considering one. Are there depth limitations to consider when looking at different fish finders?

How does GPS plotter differ from GPS nav?
Garmin also makes a over priced piece of foam that fits the shape of some hulls.. but honestly the above methods are better.
The plotter records your route but doesn't work as a navigation device. GPS navigation will show your position on a map and help you get to your destination, which isn't on this unit.
I use that mount to move this fish finder between a kayak, boat, and a battery box (for ice fishing).
I have been using this fish finder for a few years now in the summer and winter and it works good.
I would also recommend getting a "case" for this. They make a case like you would put on your cell phone, but it covers the front of the unit instead of the back to protect the screen when not in use.
