I redeemed, and was purchasing costco.com egift card. Got denied. So I logged into giftcards.com, and type in the 16 digit card number + CVV, website says: "No card found with these details. Please check the details and try again, or contact customer service". WTF??

If the virtual Visa card you just purchased here was declined by the merchants, it is possible that your card may not been activated and registered with your billing address though it was supposed to do so as part of your redemption process.

As another member mentioned in this thread, this also happened to me. I have purchased more than 30 cards at giftcards.com, this is the first time that my card was declined at the websites where cards from giftcards.com used to work. It appears that the initial card registration during card redemption was not completed due to their internal system issue but the status was not sent back to the UI to re-try.

Here is what I learned and hope it will help someone.

- If you card was declined, call 877-944-3822. Select * to talk to the customer service.
- The automated system will ask you to input your card# and security code. Then it will tell you if your card is active or not. If your card was not activated, it will activate for you. By now, you should know if you were also affected by their internal system issue during the initial registration process.
- If your card was not activated during the initial registration process, your billing address would be empty. You do need to proceed and talk to customer service asking to add your billing address and phone number to each card. In my case, I was on hold for 15 minutes, but the CSR was patient and friendly. There is no way to add you address through self service since the UI considers you have already done that in your redemption process.

At first, I did not realize the root cause of my card was declined was their internal system issue during my initial registration process. I tried to use my card again after their automated system activated my card without holding for a CSR to add my address. I ended up getting my card declined again. Most of the merchants do require you to have a matching billing address registered on the card.

If you have CapitalOne credit card, they offer 2% cash back by clicking through its website plus whatever cashback the credit card offers (usually 1.5%). You must enter giftcards.com through the offer button from capitalone.com and must pay with your Capital One credit card. The 2% cashback is applied as statement credit. In the past, I received my statement credit in 2 billing cycles.

Just placed an order and was instantly canceled via email. Went back on to reorder, and they won't even show the promo code box at checkout. Probably just as well, this company has screwed me before.

Anyone found any solution for this issue, tried creating new account, using different card but same error

We had to cancel your order #xxx because it didn't pass our screening process. Online security is important—like really important—so we take every measure we can to protect the people shopping with us.
We suggest you check out your billing and shipping info—there might be an oopsie in there that needs fixing!

Same here. Repeatedly tried placing order using PayPal charging to my primary credit card; each time I get a routine "Card Not Present" notification that I have set up but no indications that my bank rejected the charge, however my order keeps getting cancelled by giftcards.com. What a scam.

Got order cancellation 2x after trying to use PayPal (with my BofA customized cash) even though I logged into my Giftcards account and had purchased similar deals many times before using same method. Since the promo code couldn't be redeemed again, I checked out as guest with the promo code and used Apple Pay and it went through fine. Yay for free $. Love these deals.

Redeemed immediately like it normally does. Never had any problems to pay house insurance (farmers) or car insurance (geico)

I have had my transaction cancelled at giftcards.com once a couple of years ago when I was paying with BoA Visa. Once I stopped using BoA card, I have not had any cancellations at giftcards.com. I have used Capital One Visa, Citi double cash MC, and Paypal with non-BoA Visa/MC.

Recently I was planning to shop at a website that I have not shopped before. To avoid cancelation, I called BoA asking if I could 'pre-authorize' my purchase by telling them the website name and approximate amount, and I was told that cannot be done. If I shop at a place that I don't regularly shop, their algorithm will cancel my transaction. But I have an option to call them after the cancelation and then they will note my account and then I can try it again. I thought it was too much work and never tried using BoA card on that website.

Perhaps some of you whose order was cancelled by BoA may want to call them to see if it helps.

Costco does not allow Costco giftcard purchases with a giftcard. I ran into this last year.
