I redeemed, and was purchasing costco.com egift card. Got denied. So I logged into giftcards.com, and type in the 16 digit card number + CVV, website says: "No card found with these details. Please check the details and try again, or contact customer service". WTF??

If the virtual Visa card you just purchased here was declined by the merchants, it is possible that your card may not been activated and registered with your billing address though it was supposed to do so as part of your redemption process.

As another member mentioned in this thread, this also happened to me. I have purchased more than 30 cards at giftcards.com, this is the first time that my card was declined at the websites where cards from giftcards.com used to work. It appears that the initial card registration during card redemption was not completed due to their internal system issue but the status was not sent back to the UI to re-try.

Here is what I learned and hope it will help someone.

- If you card was declined, call 877-944-3822. Select * to talk to the customer service.
- The automated system will ask you to input your card# and security code. Then it will tell you if your card is active or not. If your card was not activated, it will activate for you. By now, you should know if you were also affected by their internal system issue during the initial registration process.
- If your card was not activated during the initial registration process, your billing address would be empty. You do need to proceed and talk to customer service asking to add your billing address and phone number to each card. In my case, I was on hold for 15 minutes, but the CSR was patient and friendly. There is no way to add you address through self service since the UI considers you have already done that in your redemption process.

At first, I did not realize the root cause of my card was declined was their internal system issue during my initial registration process. I tried to use my card again after their automated system activated my card without holding for a CSR to add my address. I ended up getting my card declined again. Most of the merchants do require you to have a matching billing address registered on the card.

Which BofA card? Customized Cash doesn't code giftcards.com as online purchase. it will code as POI funding and 1% base rate

a lot of time on your hands? you forgot most credit cards like my Citi also gives 2% so that is another $5.75 or so for a total of around $18 and what time? 10 minutes maybe? i can spend them fast and for $18 i see free money
Whatever you're spending these cards on, presumably you would have spent on your citi card for the 2% back anyways (had you not used these prepaid visas). So you're not really getting an additional 2% or $5.75 with this deal. You would get that 2% either way.

Not saying you shouldn't spend the time on this deal. but just pointing out for analysis and comparison reasons

One of the major reasons I don't think saving $5 to spend 30 mins on phone with any company to get this fix is worth it

I use these on mundane utility bills that never have card bonuses and let you pay in any incremental amount.

Wont that 2% cancel out when you buy these with that same Citi card? So one would save the entire 4% or so using these visa cards.

Purchased 3 and used them to purchase Costco gift cards. All transactions were cancelled but my visa gift card balances are still 0.

will these work to add to my apple wallet for paying in store with my phone like some other gift cards? (sometimes it doesn't work, so curious if anyone has success with this brand)

Essentially I'm converting it into a payment form I'd buy anyway... but at a discounted rate.

And by flipping it quickly, there's no printouts or e-mails to forget about (thereby losing some or all value through fees -- or forgetting about it entirely). It took about three minutes of my time and I "saved" $15 or more.
Exactly. I don't understand why people get so upset about this. If someone wants to complain that it's too much effort for the money saved, well apparently they had enough time to come here to complain about it!

Deals like these aren't for everyone. That's fine.

I'll buy these and use the balances immediately for internet/electric. All total for 6 cards and a savings of $53 (including all the cash back),

They probably have a temporary authorization put on them. That usually goes away in 1-3 days, depending on the merchant.

Yup that's right

The person I replied to, they were saying that spending the time to do this deal and use these prepaid cards would profit them a total of like 6% off with this deal compared to not doing the deal, which isn't really true. It would just profit them the 4% as you said

Anyone using Citi DC check your merchant offers for an extra 1.5% back on giftcards.com
That offer shows for me, but I can't activate it or load it to my card. I've had that same issue for a number of months now.

This kind of stuff always expires before the end of the promo. I bet it stops working by today.
