For some yes, for others not so much. Same same but different
You are only making $12 profit. If you can't liquidate these in less than 20 mins, I would say you are losing money.

Convert them to Amazon or Costco gift cards, never expire
True, but if you have an Amazon CC, you're already getting 5% off all purchases.

Essentially I'm converting it into a payment form I'd buy anyway... but at a discounted rate.

And by flipping it quickly, there's no printouts or e-mails to forget about (thereby losing some or all value through fees -- or forgetting about it entirely). It took about three minutes of my time and I "saved" $15 or more.
I do the same thing - 3 x $100 payments (all separately) on my AT&T wireless bill

However, I will point out that I always wait at least a week before doing so because oftentimes if you charge something on a visa credit card minutes after it was activated, there might be some kind of fraudulent flag raised so it's always good to wait a period of time before using gift cards that were just activated/paid for

6% if you do no rush shipping or Amazon 'day delivery' shipping

Also, on prime day Amazon does 6% on the Amazon credit card

I bought the max (3) w/ checkout via PayPal Mastercard to get an additional 3% cash back
I purchased three as well. I did capitaloneshopping.com 2% cashback + PayPal Mastercard 3% cashback. So $287.50 * 0.95 = 273.13. Worth it for $26.87 to me.

Is that all of their CC's which have that promo? I've got the first 5% card that they offered.

3% which card?
I was able to pay using my PayPal World MasterCard which pays 3% cashback (when you check out via PayPal check out)

I'm not sure if that was the card that they used - I think there is a credit card with Bank of America that pays 3% as well

I have the Amazon Prime Visa credit card through Chase and when I check out for things that are sold and shipped by Amazon, it says 6% cashback if I have it delivered using the 'day delivery' method

Thanks OP. I was able to get $100x3 GCs, and quickly apply them all to a utilities bill that was due in the next couple of days. No issues at all.

Ended up saving $12.15 immediately. My Capital One Quicksilver Card had an additional 2% CB offer via click-through the Capital One portal, that hopefully will credit back $5.75 in a few weeks..

For those spending $300 by buying 3 x $100, isn't it more cost effective to buy a $250 and $50 card and only pay the activation fee twice instead of thrice?

Have not tried this time, but in the past coupon only worked on $100 cards. Obviously, it's a better deal when you can apply the coupon to higher value GCs.

Coupon doesn't work on the $250 value. Just tried it.

In New York and Miami, it costs dozens of these to pay for utilities annually but also mobile and electric take payment in any amount which is convenient when using up any odd residual amounts from larger purchases.
Also in New York, you need to pay tolls on dozens of roads, whether you're traveling within the state or going out of state. $100 would last for two weeks at most, or maybe a month, best guess lol.

If the deal said "Take $4 off your internet bill for the next 3 months" you think more people would bite?
