Like any tongs it is important you give these several clicks before you grill to make sure they are working properly.

Preferably in white dad sneakers (Court Classics, Nike monarchs, New Balance)

I use dollar store tongs to pick up dog poop in the backyard, but the ends are plastic so they keep coming loose. For a dollar more, all stainless steel sounds like a good upgrade to me.

If you do this though, you really have to make sure not to mix up your tongs when you're barbequing.

Dollar25Tree should have all metal ones.
In-store varies, but their website claims they have some.

The important takeaways
- Weak rivets
- No lock
- Yes this is a deal even though it's more expensive than "dollar store" tongs.

I personally got a lot of my cooking stuff from webstuarantstore (or any brick & mortar/online restaurant supply store). Bought a $1.30 12" tongs back in 2020 with a lock and they feel sturdy. No idea how they compare but restaurant supply stores, even without a sale, have good prices for good quality stuff. Only thing I bought from them that I am unhappy with would probably be the measuring cup set.
I found a pair of metal tongs at a thrift shop a while back that was branded but with some obscure name. They were made in India. They are made from a much heavier gauge steel than the typical stamped ones and the metal is rolled back along the edges for extra strength. The hinges operate smoothly against a spring with zero play. While the kind you get for free with your workplace lunch order or the dollar store will last a long time for household use if not abused, the difference between these and the ones I had always used before was pretty surprising. I didn't know that these were available in some apocalypse-grade version until now. I've only shopped for knives at restaurant supply stores. I guess I'll have to take a look at the tongs next time.

Good tongs.I bought 2 last time they were on sale. Worth it to pay more for the version with a locking ring though.

You can get them at this price from Katom every day. They charge shipping, but it's a great place to buy all the stuff you need for a kitchen.
Katom shipping is reasonable too. I was gonna put in an order with webstaurant awhile back and the shipping was gonna be over $100, the same things from katom was like $20 shipping.

I ordered about $240 worth of stuff and shipping was $20. Everything is industrial grade that matches or exceeds anything locally, and the price per item cost less than what Walmart would charge me for plastic garbage.

There lots of things there that make it easy to justify. For example, I custom built a push broom with a heavy duty fiberglass handle for my shop.

If you cook with any regularity, tongs are an absolute must. Unfortunately, most cheap tongs are garbage. They're made from thin metal that bend, rust, and break. Getting heavy duty tongs from a restaurant supply store is great, though sometimes inconvenient. If you have a Sam's Club membership, buy your tongs there. Sam's caters to a lot of small businesses and restaurants and their Member's Mark tongs are great: https://www.samsclub.com/p/member...-pk/132720

They're also less than $5 for a two-pack. The Winco ones aren't the worst, but the tongs from Sam's are definitely better.

Tongs, check.
New Balance, check.
Corvette...fail.

I have bought this exact item at a local restaurant store (Wasserstrom [wasserstrom.com]) for around this price, they do have an online presence as well. Sam's Club does have a similar 'Member's Mark Heavy Duty Utility Tongs 2 pk' for $4.58 for those in the market, which includes a 9.5" and 12" pair of heavy duty tongs.

I love this small size because they are great for serving out of dishes if you do any kind of buffet style eating, like a backyard BBQ or potluck. I use them for cooking too, for transferring items like chicken wings, or cuts of meat from a tray to a plate or whatever. Short isn't always bad...bad for grilling due to the length but perfect for all of the other tasks! The shorter handles means you can grip things much better. I even have used them to hold my rack of ribs will I slice between the bones. Dang I'm glad summer is around the corner, time for some ribs!

I have bought some decent sturdy tongs at Walmart that were surprisingly heavy duty for what I paid. Haven't seen them in a few years...I keep waiting for them to get keen on the idea that they could make them cheaper and they would still sell...but for now I hope they leave them alone.

Bought this and it is terrible. I have the locking WinCo 9" tongs and thought it would be similar. It's like half the weight and just not as good feeling. No lock which I read here. That would be fine if the tongs were actually good made in India as opposed to my made in USA locking 9" tongs
