Great price but XFX will not honor the warranty as it's sold by "Fennec, Inc" And it will show that on the sales invoice. They are not an authorized reseller for XFX.

Direct from XFX:

NOTE: 3rd party marketplace vendors at sites such as Amazon and Newegg are often not Authorized Retailers, items must be both "shipped and sold" by Amazon, Newegg, or corresponding retailer to be considered an Authorized Retailer,

I read about it. Kind of mixed feeling. Something can be wrong or nothing. I have an old card hd480 8gb that does it only when i launch a game. My pc is open no case. I hate the noise but don't feel like spending money on a new card that will do the same.
Coil whine in that scenario is unavoidable pretty much. The card is running at several hundred to a couple THOUSAND fps. It's working insanely hard. The devs are lazy AF and don't cap framerate in intros and sometimes menus.

I have the merc with no coil whine except in those exact scenarios and it's not even that loud.
If you guys are playing older games that will run at very high FPS, then just set a cap. You're burning the shit out of the card for nothing and making it whine.

Here we go finally slightly discounted gpus but I no longer need it. Too bad there was never a chip shortage of ai shortage it was all a p n d.

Fake. Scam by corporations to intentionally keep prices higher. Should have a multi trillion class action but won't happen and people will get a coupon for 1 dollar while lawyers get trillions.

This is a good card, but personally the price isn't good enough that I'd drop $410 w/o a warranty. As for coil whine, I believe it can happen to any card, and it's not indicative of quality, just a (bad) luck of the draw.

I bought this last year and got coil whine as well. I used it with a pair of headphones for a couple of months and the coil whine is gone now. But that's not to say your coil whine will always go away with break-in, just sometimes.

Bought a 6800 when it was 340 at newegg, broke in 2 days. Bought this when it went on sale, and it came extremely unstable at stock clocks. Am I really unlucky, or is XFX quality control terrible?

What power supply do you have?

750 watt, decent corsair b tier model. Definitely enough for a 5700x and a 6800xt. If I somehow get a third dud in a row then it must somehow be PSU despite it working fine on my overclocked 5700xt with a 50% power limit increase

Recent cards that I have had in the last 12 months coil whine from worst to littlest. 7800xt-6800-2080ti-1080ti-6700-6600-3060ti-3060.
I have a Powercolor Hellhound 7800XT that is exceptionally polite under load. There's no hard and fast rule based purely on GPU. Make/model matters. YMMV.

XFX isn't the best tier but we use them in our builds 500+ with pretty much little to no issues. Only AIB we have issues with is Zotac tbh with DOA cards. (Nvidia)

It does to a point but I have had quite a few 6xxx 7xxx Nitros with major whine in customer builds. Mostly at high fps though 165+ which seems to be the norm.

Interesting. I had a zotac 2060 for a while, and never had any issues aside from relatively mediocre cooling. Hopefully, I'm just extremely unlucky and third times the charm on XFX 🤷 ♂️

I don't think Zotac is horrid but where I work is building around 150 pcs a week and we just have more issues with that brand then others. Avrg consumer prolly won't have any issues.

Just popped the heat sink and fan off of mine because it was running at 87C. Everything looked fine but after reapplying some paste and reinstalling temps dropped to 58C while gaming. Was blown away really. It runs helldiver's 2 at 4k no problem
