T-Mobile has Pixels 8a and 7a [t-mobile.com] for free + tax with a $500 trade-in credit (over 24 months). Similar to the
Pixel 8 for $100, upgrades qualify, no new line required, 4 upgrades max per promo code P706. Go5G, Magenta, or ONE plans qualify.
Pixel 8a: $0 + tax
Pixel 7a: unknown, not available online
This deal is available through all T-Mobile sales channels: internet, phone, retail, kiosks, etc. Upgrading through Sams Club and Costco will get your $35 activation fee waived and a $75 to $100 bonus gift card per upgrade.
Ask for the $500 trade-in promotion by referring to
Smartphone Trade ID240206, Promo Code: P706 [t-mobile.com].
Cheapest trade-able phone for the full $500 credit would be
a Samsung S9 for $90 [ebay.com]. Trade-ins must be in good condition (turns on; no water damage; no screen cracks; and in my experience screen burn and scratches are acceptable).
This deal is for existing T-mobile customers with qualifying plans to upgrade. There are better deals for new T-Mobile customers, like
4x iPhone 15 + Essentials plan for $100.

I believe on my account (at least) you can just add a line and get either the 8 or the 8a for free and then cancel the original line. If that doesn't work I'm just gonna leave T-Mobile and buy the phone when it hits $350. The 8a is a downgrade from the 6 slower charging, cheaper build weaker battery life and no reverse wireless charging and smaller screen no way I would trade it for that. I'm either gonna get this phone free or just get cheaper service personally. Def not signing a contract and doing a trade in

On the iPhone Essentials deal, you're saying I would need to port out then wait 90 days for port back, correct?
Does anyone have the short version / TLDR for the distinctions between the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8a? From what I can tell:
- Very slight difference in screen size
- Very slight difference in phone size
- Very slight difference in battery capacity size
- Some differences in maximum wired and wireless charging rates
- A difference in the camera sensor
That last distinction is the one I'm most interested in learning about; I've been pleased with the Pixel cameras but have been frustrated by Google's willingness to move away from a standardized camera across all models. The Pixel 6a introduced the tiered camera system for the bottom end of the Pixel line, while the 7a eliminated wireless charging availability as a significant point of distinction between the two models. As maintaining the highest quality camera option remains a worthwhile investment for me, I suspect the extra $100 for a Pixel 8 might still be under consideration...(6.2" on Pixel 8, 6.1" on Pixel 8a)
(the Pixel 8a is a bit larger)
(the Pixel 8 battery is a bit larger at 4,575mAh vs the 4,492mAh of the Pixel 8a)
(The Pixel 8 tops out @ 27W wired & 18W Qi wireless; the Pixel 8a is limited to 18W wired & 7.5W Qi wireless)
Good luck!
Jon
