Supposedly the Panasonic UB820 has an excellent upscaler for DVD. Unfortunately I have only played one DVD and it was already a bootleg movie that was filmed unprofessionaly so it's looks bad on a CRT and 4K
FYI the Panasonic UB420 offers the same upscaling, only real thing it doesn't over the 820 is DV.

As good as it is, it can only do so much. Very dependent on the quality of the content, but that's the case for all content.

I believe Best Buy getting rid of their physical media was a mistake. No reason to step in their stores anymore.

Hopefully, Walmart will have good 4K BF Friday sale this year. Target is limited item on BF, Amazon mostly price match with WM, Target and GS. Also, GS start sale 4K & Blu-ray later this year (likely big titles). Gruv and sentaifilmworks (if you like anime).

I'm just not sure we'll ever see big media sales around Christmas anymore. It's become a high-end market aimed at collectors, not average folks.

The studios just don't overproduce copies like they used to back in the day.

Target sometimes will have a "buy 2 get 1 free" movie promo and has a very good selection when they do this - so good to scoop up titles you've been waiting on that rarely go on sale. Can mix and match 4K UHD Blu-rays, Blu-rays and DVDs when they do that promo. Amazon sometimes does something similar.

Yeah the last three BestBuy stores I walked into were all in shambles, pricing missing on a hefty amount of items, demos not functioning, completely disengaged staff, and returned items lying all over the place. Reminds me an awful lot of Circuit City, RadioShack and Fry's before they went under.

I still think The Shining is one of the best looking 4Ks in my entire collection!

I heard earlier today when you buy from certain digital movie sites you are agreeing to only have rights to watch it on their app. Not own it. An the conditions say they can revoke your right. Like saying words that hurt their feelings even on Google. Yet alone selling that section of their company. Video was suggesting what I always did. It's free to actually own a copy of on some sites/peer networks 👍

movies are too old and cheap on DVD, if they listed Dune part 2, MI: Dead Reckoning, Then maybe it would be a deal,

Not for any old ones I already got, No double dipping from me.

I think you don't understand what the product is: It's a 4k Ultra Blu-ray, DVD, digital code combo... it's an upscale from what DVDs can process and you'll get it digital on your service of choice (of VUDU) as well.
