I'm tempted to try this, inverter compressor and dual hose. It's an improvement from last year's model. 13.5 seer vs the U shape 15 seer. I take out my ACs in winter from the window so this should be easier to set up and take off. The 12k Ushape didn't cool well for my small bedroom 240sqft, I might give this a try.

This model is super noisy when kick in at the middle of the night. I had to return it and bought the inverter version. The inverter version is very quiet and worth the extra money spent.
Now I'm confused, isn't this post for the inverter version?

My bad. I mention the wrong model below. This model has Dual hoses and Inverter, so it's a good one.

The link you provided model with heat pump. Bummer they didn't come out with inverter and heat pump. Probably a lot of units with heat pump breaking? Manufacturing cost doesn't seem to add much with adding reversing valve. Idk

Purchased this today but will be returning it. At first it seems extremely quiet and was pushing out 66F air in my 78F room. Then a few minutes later a rattling sound started that would get louder and louder, I'm assume this was the compressor kicking on as the air coming out was 48F at this point. Sounds like a bad bearing to me.. so I'm not sure if this is a normal operational sound or I just got one with issues. However, if this is normal it kills any sense of it being quiet.

It's normal. My Danby inverter rattles for some unknown reason then quiets down. The Midea is much quieter tho. Go figure bc Danby version is made by Midea. Slightly different ratings and looks.

I got a similar Hisense 8,000 BTU dual hose model last year and I'm very happy with it (looks identical to the picture). I like it cold when I sleep in my 4th floor bedroom and this keeps me from having to pay to SUPER-cool the 3rd and stairway (since cold goes down), so I just cool the one room.

I think the big difference is that this one has the inverter and is supposed to be quieter and a lower operating cost.

Seems to me these were a little cheaper in the store ($20 or $40) for most of the sales during the year. I believe when I finally picked it up at the end of the summer, it was the same ($299), but regardless they delivered it and got it up a third of the stairway for me, so that was helpful.

My house is 1800 sq ft and my bedroom is on the top floor with afternoon to sunset sun exposure. I like to sleep on the cool side.

I have central ac but didn't want to have to cool down the entire house just to get my room chilly. Just picked this Hisense dual hose up from Costco a few days ago

This thing is quiet. My winix air cleaner is louder than this. It cools my room 200 square ft room with high ceilings fine but also we haven't had any real heat yet. I'm confident it will keep up. I have been just using it on low and use the timer to have it shut off automatically

There is no rattling or any other odd noise at all. I can't even tell it's on by listening. The instructions do state to leave upright for two hours before turning on. That's in case you had it on its side and has to do with the refrigerant lubricating oil I'm guessing. It could mess up your compressor

The remote isn't backlit which is a negative. But there is a phone app to control everything. I really don't like that the app asks for your personal information and requires precise location to function properly. But you can turn the unit on and off and adjust things on your phone anywhere you have cell phone data service

The fan stays on all the time when the unit is on and just cycles the compressor on and off to maintain a set temp I am guessing. Although I can't hear the compressor going on and off

It does not require any draining when using it as just an ac. It's possible in high humidity areas you may have to do a manual drain. It does not have a heat function. It does have a dehumidifier function which would require draining
