Which my local AMC has done. There used to be showings earlier like around 10-11 and later at 9-10 pm. Now the earliest is around 1 and the latest is 7-8. At least on the weekdays.

Unlikely that a pre-noon show will sell out so there's no reason to buy in advance, buy at the theater and save on fees.
I drive by my theater's parking lot quite a bit and the amount of cars there has starkly declined since before COVID.
