This popular deal is back! I ordered one last time and it was delivered to CA in 2 days. Had a manufacture date of Sep. 2023 and looked brand new with no scratches.

What is everyone's problem with Newegg? I've been buying from them since 2005 (if memory serves) and never had a problem with their customer service on any product. Besides, Newegg is just the storefront here, goHardDrive is the actual seller and shipper on this deal. I'd grab a pair of these without hesitation, except I just ordered a pair of 18TB drives last week for $135.00 each.
Go on YouTube and watch Gamers Nexus. They did a report about Newegg.
Newegg refurb no thanks

Do we hate on them because they're communists, or because they're capitalists? So hard to know these days.

That word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Are deals like 12 TB for $73 that was on eBay recently rare or I can expect them soom? That seems like the best ratio $/TB and I just need it for simple NAS with old PC, nothing fancy.
I am looking for this deal as well. I need at least 2.

I just got two if these drives delivered from these deal, they were securely shipped with a lot of bubble wrap. I initialized them and they show 0 power on hours. These are from goharddrive, any way to find the total hours on these drives? any recommendation of first steps setting up and checking refurb drives?

There's a very small chance the SMART self-test history wasn't reset. You could use something like Gsmartcontrol to pull it. It will show how many power-on hours the drive had when the test was run. Even then, you'd only know the potential minimum number of hours the drive was running.

As for testing the drives, I suggest performing a full surface scan with something like HDDScan or Victoria. One pass will take approximately 20 hours.

I just want to point out that those drives do not appear to be enterprise class Ultrastar/Gold drives. They look like the ones from shucked Easystore/Elements externals. Don't expect the same level of performance and possibly reliability.

"Shucked" HDD's is exactly what they are ( I own many ) and they keep on working the same as anything else on the market. If you have a problem with used being used, then don't buy! Anything else or less than, is just noise, unless you have a specific question.
As Yoda once said: There is no try, there is only do or do not!
Cheers 🍻

I never said I had a problem with used drives, or that they wouldn't work. I was pointing out that those are not enterprise class drives, like the Exos or Ultrastar/Gold. They will not have the same performance characteristics. They may also be lower binned drives.

You think a HDD is somehow different from an HDD? It's all just noise, let it go please.
