Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
They used to be great, but imo have gotten worse. (I'd even say low key shady).
Example:
I bought a VC on sale, VCs are returnable. Nowhere on the product page does it say NO RETURNS. My VC was faulty... requested exchange and was denied by newegg... their excuse was for this particular product, no returns (even though not stated anywhere).
I ate it and never bought from newegg again.

Not really a deal. For similar pricing you can get a 12700kf (significantly better overall) or 5700x3D (if you already have AM4). 5800x hasnt been a good buy for years, and this pricing isnt cheap enough to justify it.
I've got a TP01-2066 which came with a 5800 series cpu...anyone know if it can handle any other cpu than the one it came with? I recall reading it did NOT work with 3xxx series cpu's.
Anyone know of a cheap motherboard new or refurb to go with this cpu? or the 5700 gaming cpu mentioned? (I'm not a gamer but if it's only $20 different I might bump it up.

Do you have a video card? If you're just using the iGPU from the 5700G, you won't get any video from any of these processors without a video card. Also, even if it fits, you'll have to check with HP if the BIOS support them and you'll need to check on your PSU to see if it would support the increased wattage.
EDIT: You said 5800, but their website says it's a 5700G

Exactly right, I do not purchase from newegg either because of crappy CS, Havnt bought anything from them since 2013. In 2020 is when I encountered the crappy CS there, apparently from 2013 to 2020, somewhere in between Newegg was sold to another company and that is why they turned to crap, they were good before. Now I just check out deals posted for newegg, but only to see what it is and then look for the same item on Amazon or anywhere else to purchase it. Newegg will never get my money again.
If you are playing games and want to extend your AM4 setup the 5700X3D is $200 at Amazon right now and would be well worth the price difference.
If you're strictly gaming then it comes down to if $35 is worth 5% performance increase in most games. There are a few games where you get 15-30% increases but they aren't common.
They're the same TDP but you gain substantially more in productivity with the 5800x if you use it for that. The 5700x3d is hampered by its low frequency in a lot scenarios.
Any of these chips are only worth it if you're already on the AM4 platform with a Gen1 or 2 Ryzen and hoping to extend the life of your system.
I've spent over 15,000 with them over the years. We'll say I've stopped in the last 5 and only do so if I absolutely have too.
In the last 5-10 years, their costumer service has tanked, RMAs have become an absolutely arduous trial. I've spent that much and have been treated like a criminal by their new CS teams because I have had DOA motherboards/videocards.
They have accused me of purposely damaging equipment and tried denying me a replacement or refund.
No idea if they have gotten better, I haven't had an interaction since 2019.

I was in the same boat. About 6 years ago I had a problem and they were denying an RMA and was a huge runaround for almost 2 weeks. I got fed up and just called my credit card company and filed a dispute. That was much easier.
