Please stay away from the Mirai. The hydrogen/H2 fuel costs $36/kg. The $15K fuel card they will give is good for 25K miles. It'll cost ~$180 to fill up, which is good for ~300 miles. I'm part of a telegram group of Mirai owners. Many there cannot get near to 400 miles advertised range, no matter how hard they try. People in SolCal have to deal with unreliable H2 stations. People in SF just had their only 3 local stations closed permanently.

Wow not bad!

It still a $35k+. Shoppers will always compare this to other mainstreamed car.
Have you been car shopping lately? Most cars are over 30K now.

We have a 2008 Outlander with a V6; it is the best vehicle we have ever owned, especially considering we only paid $18,900 back then. Over 170,000 miles on it and only regular maintenance...Too bad they discontinued the V6 with the 2024 model...

It may be irrelevant here, but need to vent. I first time rented EV, Chevrolet Bolt 2023 with 18k miles only and have been extremely disappointed with the use of its electric juice. Basically, be prepared to charge it everyday and finding a charging station is in itself challenging even if you are forgiving on 1+ hour of wasted time it to be charged just to 80%. If you use heat, and soon AC, then may God be with you because you will be running to charging station every half day and will cost a lot more than gas.

With that said, if anyone knows hybrid used car they recommend for heavy work use, list here your opinion and experience
The bolt has a fairly specific use case and its not a great road tripper, but for the average person who can charge at home and doesnt road trip its great. DC charging speeds are probably its biggest weakness.

Yeah the plug in still uses the old platform hence the chademo

The battery is also bigger. Chademo isn't going anyway like super soon, there's still new ones being installed if you google it. I have a ton around me but I'm fine with L1 charging - considering L2 though I have a contractor family friend that will do it cheap.

How's the dealership experience? Do they provide loaner cars for repairs? How's the car value hold up

Loaner vehicles are dealer specific. Car value wise, these things do not hold. They're best as a buy and drive 'til the wheels fall off kind of vehicle. I've bought three in Savannah GA and they were partnered with a Volvo dealer so they gave all the Volvo service perks which was nice. All 3 went well into 160k+ miles with regular maintenance. We each one them due to accidents (total loss); each one protected my family and I from some terrible crashes. I'd rate them as adequate and reliable vehicles but nothing special compared to your more popular brands.

Yep. Inflation is kicking our rears. New car price average is just under $50K. Ouch.

Yeah that's the biggest negative but hopefully that will change with the new Outlanders, year of year supposedly 41% increase in sales 2022-2023.

It's obvious that SDers aren't car people. Where do opinions come from? Read car and driver about this vehicle.

Let the market crash. It's coming.

Don't let the stealership sell you on low inventory lies.

When it comes to depreciation, it's hard to do worse than top tier luxury cars. That being said, Mitsubishi comes close [caredge.com].

Mitsubishi these days is long detached from the Japan bubble economy era of the late 80's and early 90's when Mitsubishi had sporty cars like the GT3000 and Eclipse alongside luxury-leaning sedans like the Galant, and rally-car competitors like the Lancer. Instead we're left to budget cars like the Mitsubishi Mirage (formerly the cheapest car [autonews.com] you could buy in U.S.) and a few other offerings that generally exist to drive sub-prime friendly lending options.

As such, don't expect a premium or even particularly good dealership experience.. but then again, that's pretty relative. Worse than a Lexus dealership [theautopian.com], but maybe better than a poke in the eye?

Good luck!

That is an increasingly popular [goodcarbadcar.net] large SUV model. Expecting discounts might be wishful thinking unless the entire market craters.

Good luck!

Terrible dealers. Warranty is worthless. Had manufacturers warranty and had to have the car towed from the dealer to a mechanic to actually get it fixed.
