Please stay away from the Mirai. The hydrogen/H2 fuel costs $36/kg. The $15K fuel card they will give is good for 25K miles. It'll cost ~$180 to fill up, which is good for ~300 miles. I'm part of a telegram group of Mirai owners. Many there cannot get near to 400 miles advertised range, no matter how hard they try. People in SolCal have to deal with unreliable H2 stations. People in SF just had their only 3 local stations closed permanently.

Would not buy a Mitsubishi again. Dealers are terrible. Warranty is worthless as they will not honor it.

We have a 2008 Outlander with a V6; it is the best vehicle we have ever owned, especially considering we only paid $18,900 back then. Over 170,000 miles on it and only regular maintenance...Too bad they discontinued the V6 with the 2024 model...
One consideration for potential buyers here is that the Outlander currently on sale is little changed from it's original introduction around 2012/2013 (technically 2014 model year for North America). This isn't unheard of from other manufacturers (Nissan, thanks in large part to difficult financials the past decade, also has some aging platforms [topspeed.com]). When you have a reliable platform, making small changes is largely seen as contributing to overall reliability. Otherwise, keeping an extremely aging platform is often a bad sign regarding company financials and a buyer could rightly infer other concerns.

Good luck!

I would suggest that this is not an atypical experience. For dealership experience Toyota is, in a grand irony, the anti-Lexus.

The bolt has a fairly specific use case and its not a great road tripper, but for the average person who can charge at home and doesnt road trip its great. DC charging speeds are probably its biggest weakness.

Ditto about the specific use case. To me the biggest weakness is the trunk space, which is why I bought a Nissan Leaf S 23, with a small 40kW battery. This was back in 2022. These small electric cars are perfect for the kids pick ups and drop offs, running errands, and commute, all in stop and go traffic, where their efficiency is the highest.I also have Acura RDX, and it averages 15 miles a gallon of a premium gas Getting a small EV to do long road trips equals getting a V8 4.8l+ truck to mainly use it for the daily commute, imho

It's obvious that SDers aren't car people. Where do opinions come from? Read car and driver about this vehicle.
I'd be giving the thread more of a pass if this were a lease. Even an objectively terrible car could be worth some consideration for a fixed amount of time (though the deal would warrant some consideration around factors such as how much time is spent in a dealer repair center, etc.).

Otherwise, it should be no surprise that a manufacturer so close to the bottom of the market is offering free money for purchase deals (which are often accompanied by expectations to push buyers closer to profitable MSRP prices).

Good luck!

I'm not sure that's going to be easy to come back from and China will kill our auto industry within 2 years if we don't do something.

Is Satander financing this and not Mitsubishi? If so, they're basically just dumping the car onto Satander, arent they?

We have a fleet of Nissan vehicles that all have slipping transmissions at low mileage. Their transmissions are absolute garbage.

Badge engineering?
Kind of... you'd be right to identify the traditional badge engineering involved here [motortrend.com]. But considering the platform's source (Nissan) the story is almost worse.

When GM slapped a Geo badge on a Corolla or a Pontiac badge on a Toyota Matrix people might be inclined to applaud. However, when one struggling manufacturer (Mitsubishi) coordinates with another (Nissan) the results might instead range from acceptable to worse.

Good luck!

Another solid example of a car whose depreciation and limited demand recommend free financing on the part of the manufacturer.

Good luck!

I looked at buying a new Outlander in 2019 because they were so cheap. A well equipped model was in the low 20s. The MSRP has increased significantly in these!

There have been many car financing deals lately with low apr (such as this 0%, and mainly .9% or 1.9%). My question is how are manufacturers able to offer rates so low in the current environment (when everything around us is telling us interests rates are so high, borrowing is so expensive, 7% mortgage rates, etc). Are the car makers just eating the cost of the loan (or at least the cost of buying down the rate) in order to move cars? Are they seeing some writing in the wall about people not being able to afford cars soon and are hoping to get ahead of it by offering low interest rates at a loss?? Mazda sends me emails regularly offering .9% for a new car.

I think $180 in electricity in California is $60 in Georgia (seriously, no political statement).
