I have both this and a 34L Osprey Manta (Airspeed suspension) and this has way more usable space and is much lighter and more flexible than the Osprey. They serve two very different functions.

This is ideal as a carry on for most travel trips where you really prioritize carrying capacity, light weight, and flexibility (this can count as a personal item if lightly packed - since there is no support structure everything is flexible, and this can expand into a carry on to bring all your souvenirs back).

The Osprey is what I use when I plan on serious hiking or bikepacking (just used it for a ten day unsupported bikepacking trip) - it's great at what it does but there is a real weight and usable space penalty, and there's no way I'm going to convince anyone it's a personal item. In fact, it's technically not even a carry-on - it's an inch too tall to fit in most sizers (though because it tapers it should pass most visual inspections, though I wouldn't try this on Asian or European airlines who are usually much stricter). That's the penalty of the amazing Airspeed suspension - the bag has dimensions much closer to typical ~45L packs.

I highly recommend both bags for their respective purposes, and both are in fact on sale.

I have a few of these. 2 35l and a 28l awesome one bag travel options. Me, wife and kid took the above to Japan for 3 weeks. Did laundry half way through but was nice to have everything on our back. Good price.

Without any sort of brace support, doesn't matter how well that mesh breathes on the back: it will trap heat. Put the money towards an Osprey and save your back.

I got my wife one of these for Christmas, she loves it. Great one bag solution without being too huge.

This is a great bag. And probably one of the best "one bag" travel bags.

However for those being more cost conscious, I'd recommend looking into the Cor Surf Island Hopper 40L. It's basically a knock off of this bag. Can be had quite a bit cheaper, quality is close similar and they have a great warranty.

I really like the look/uniqueness of Cotopaxi backpacks until I took a look at some up close at an outdoors retailer. The quality seemed kinda bad for the cost. I will continue to stick with Osprey since their stuff is built to last, and they have a life time warranty.
