I have both this and a 34L Osprey Manta (Airspeed suspension) and this has way more usable space and is much lighter and more flexible than the Osprey. They serve two very different functions.

This is ideal as a carry on for most travel trips where you really prioritize carrying capacity, light weight, and flexibility (this can count as a personal item if lightly packed - since there is no support structure everything is flexible, and this can expand into a carry on to bring all your souvenirs back).

The Osprey is what I use when I plan on serious hiking or bikepacking (just used it for a ten day unsupported bikepacking trip) - it's great at what it does but there is a real weight and usable space penalty, and there's no way I'm going to convince anyone it's a personal item. In fact, it's technically not even a carry-on - it's an inch too tall to fit in most sizers (though because it tapers it should pass most visual inspections, though I wouldn't try this on Asian or European airlines who are usually much stricter). That's the penalty of the amazing Airspeed suspension - the bag has dimensions much closer to typical ~45L packs.

I highly recommend both bags for their respective purposes, and both are in fact on sale.

How do I select the orange color? I can select any color but orange, when I click on it, it takes me to another product.

Got excited, in hopes I can replace my Cabin Max Uppsala - However this is a no go for a few European & US air carriers.

Dimensions of this bag: 22 x 12 x 10" (56 x 30 x 25cm)

Icelandair Max Carry on size: 21.6x15.7x7.8 inches (55x40x20 cm) : https://www.icelandair.com/suppor...allowance/ [icelandair.com]

Ryanair Max Carry on size: (40x20x25cm) : https://help.ryanair.com/hc/en-us...Bag-Policy [ryanair.com]

If you get a ticketing or gate agent on a bad day (happens when you least expect it...at least for me), this wont work on American Airlines, Alaskan, Delta, Jet Blue or United Domestic if they told you to fit it into the sizer (one inch too deep) - Max Carry on size: 22 x 14 x 9 : https://www.cnn.com/cnn-underscor...size-guide [cnn.com]
Given that this is a soft bag, the dimensions should not be a problem if you don't pack it all the way.

I've had mine for a little over a year and I love it. Definitely carry on friendly and I've had success shoving it under the seat when I fly budget economy and only get a "personal" item (this is a bit of a stretch and your leg room will definitely suffer, so YMMV).

One of the strap buckles broke and they repaired it quickly, shipping covered by them.

Overall, highly recommended for one bag travel.

If you're looking for a bag like this that isn't quite so expensive but otherwise very similar (even lacking a damn water bottle holder on side... But I digress), look at Target's Open Story 35L travel backpack

I was able to cram an ungodly amount of stuff into it for two week trip, all as carryon with no one batting an eye, and it's quite durable. Comes with Target one year refund no questions asked policy for Target store brand stuff IIRC

https://www.target.com/p/35l-trav...A-86391380

If you poke around on ebay, bullseyedeals (target overstock essentially) sometimes has em for as cheap as 20 bucks!

28L on sale too. Nice
28L is closer to the personal carry on size limit (19 in x 12 in x 9 in) for most airlines (18 in x 14 in x 8 in for AA).

Anyone have input on this vs other suggestions for a general purpose travel bag (3-7 days)?
I'm looking at this Reddit spreadsheet and there are a ton. https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...=744941088
I also see some other options are on sale right now, including Nomatic 40L which I've heard good things about in the past https://www.nomatic.com/products/...travel-bag

REI Ruckpack 40l. Have been using it for years for both personal and business trips. Holds a week worth of stuff and has structure/features to double as a light duty overnight backpacking pack. In around 100 flights so far never had an issue in US, Europe or Asia using it as a carry on.

Get some compression packing cubes to help with organization. I use Taskin Air Duo I got from their original kickstarter. Great for separating clean from dirty as the week goes on.

Without any sort of brace support, doesn't matter how well that mesh breathes on the back: it will trap heat. Put the money towards an Osprey and save your back.

Or this one my personal favorite: https://www.rei.com/product/17690...ypack-mens

The all around zipper is inviting thiefs. A top loader would be safer.

I've owned this bag for about 7 years. It's fantastic as a travel bag. Has the capacity of a standard clamshell roller pack without the risk of getting gate checked. Also, believe it or not, you can squeeze it under the seat on the plane if the overhead is full.

I've taken it on several international trips and it has zero rips or tears. It is apocalypse proof.

It's very comfortable and supported, though if you walk 5 miles in the pounding sun (as I did in a few stops in Europe) your back will sweat.

PS mine came with a mesh water bottle sleeve - not sure if they still have these. But you could easily carabiner a water bottle on the side.

There's a little loop on all zippers that you can stick the zipper pulls through that helps with theft

One thing that you did not mention. Is the warranty comparison between Osprey and Cotopaxi. This is one of the main reasons I primarily buy Osprey over other brands of the same price range. Osprey will repair or replace anything regardless of age. Cotopaxi clearly states they won't even fix a zipper due to "they naturally wear out". A good warranty by a company that stands behind their product is a rare thing these days and I support that.

Just the number of people coming here to comment on this bag should attest for the quality and usefulness of this as a travel bag.

My family has used these exclusively for the last probably 5 years. Wife and I have the 35L and daughters use 28L. I use the 28L if I'm traveling alone (don't have to carry extra family stuff).

Only complaint is no water bottle pocket. They have one on the 42L. Come on Cotopaxi add it in the next iteration.

I have the 28L bags for my kids. Cotopaxi does make a clip on water bottle holder designed for the bags. Unfortunately, it looks like they're not selling it on their site right now.

If your looking for something comparable with a water bottle holder, I would buy the Osprey Daylite Duffel which can be backpack or duffel. The 45L is currently $90 and the 30L is $80. Its currently my go-to for work, gym, and traveling.

I don't understand this bag. Its too big to use as a daypack, which is the main reason you would carry a backpack when you travel. Usually if you travel with a carryon roller + backpack personal item. Is this suppose to replace the carryon roller?
