I still have a set of Ebags packing cubes that I purchased over 10 years ago and used every week (I was a flight attendant for 15 years).
I can't recommend them enough both for keeping you organized on trips and their durability.

After using them for awhile I can't imagine going back to not having them.
It's so nice to open up your suitcase and know exactly where to find the pair of socks or shirt that you are looking for!
I have the 3 piece that comes with 3 different sizes and it's worked well for me.

Just a reminder that MEMORIALTWENTY is a ebay coupon (not limited to these only) that can apparently be used twice.

Three piece classics so you get three different sizes to try out.
The large will hold a couple pairs of pants and a few shirts.
Medium is good for socks, underwear, undershirts.
And the small will hold a few bottles of vitamins/medications.
Although the uses are endless. In the reviews a lot of people describe how they use the different sizes.

During a trip I also keep everything that doesn't need to be washed in the packing cubes and whatever needs to be washed in one of the hotel dry cleaning bags so when I get home I'm still organized and it's easy to find exactly what to toss into the laundry bin.

Thanks guys.

Is this not much of a deal? I show the 4 piece priced at $12 on Ebags site but $16 here on eBay (tho Ebags charges $5 shipping).

20% off coupon on eBay right now. Also that's a discounted price on the ebags website, although they have sales quite often.

For sizing, I use the slim for my toiletry bag and still have room. Obviously you have the clear quart baggie for liquids, but I've gone to mostly solids for that so my slim is fuller. I've also used it for underwear, socks, and bras. The small, I can fit a thin pair of pajamas, 6-7 undies, two sports bras, a regular bra, and a few pairs of wool socks. Medium usually holds 7 rolled t-shirts and a two pairs of shorts on top. The large I never use because it's huge. It's backpack sized and is holding all my other assorted packing cubes and bags.

As far as sizing for packing, I usually have the medium and a slim in a school-sized backpack compartment, then the small, a pair of shoes, and liquids quart bag in another compartment.

Yep, I do the same with small/slim and medium. best combos.

The large bags are big and awkward where your normal folding will leave gaps so you try to fold clothes into 2 sections of it, but it overlaps a bit. Also it's more difficult to play Tetris with. Like others said they're really only useful for bigger clothing (thicker jackets)

The 3 pack medium is the best thing here.

If there was a 3 pack medium + 1 pack slim combo that would be perfect for a carry-on. Fwiw, typically a carry-on holds 2 medium on each side. So I bring 3 for tops, bottoms, overflow. Slim for socks+underwear. That leaves enough room for your toiletry bag..

I bought my set 10 years ago and they still hold up. With Packing cubes you have to go brand name overly expensive for what they are or they fall apart.

Ebags at normal price isn't cheap but cheaper then name brand luggage. The zippers and material aren't lightweight. But because they aren't they don't rip or fail like the cheap knockoffs do.

Which set would you recommend
I'm a contrarian I guess but I'd get only the medium size. I'm with you -- packing cubes aren't necessarily better than your solution for organization purposes, but where they really shine is when you have a bunch of mediums. The larger ones are massive and take up a whole carry on. The smaller ones have utility only for organizing small items like socks. But the mediums are good for shirts, pants, outerwear, sleepwear, you name it, and when you have a bunch that are the same size, they stack very neatly. I generally don't bother with cubes for a short trip with a carry on, but when packing a medium 25-26" case (or a 60 liter duffel) for a long trip, a half dozen (or more) mediums fit perfectly side-by-side and stacked. My ideal set would be all mediums but in an assortment of colors.

I have three sets between my family and I've been using it for roughly 10 years. The reason I love these is because the packing cubes act like drawers in your suitcase - so really easy to organize and helps me not forget anything when packing.

I use a large one to pack my shirts/pants, medium to pack my undershirts and underwear, and small for my socks. The large fits the entire X x Y shape of a traditional domestic carryon roller. The medium and small I typically stack on top (z dimension), with an additional tioletry bag, steamer and sometimes a a shoe bag on the second layer. Works really well in my opinion.

The lack of compression capabilities makes these not the best deal. Good packing cubes for checked in baggage but probably not for carry on

These are not true compression bags and you probably would create more room by stuffing your clothing into shopping bags and squeezing out the air. Look for good compression bags instead

Packing cubes have intrigued me but have yet to purchase a set. I've been re-purposing the plastic bags that new bedsheets/pillowcases/comforters come in. They're clear so I can see the contents and serve the purpose. Do packing cubes have any added benefit?
They come in varied sizes to make it easier to fit in your luggage. I love packing cubes and think they are well worth the money. At this price, I'm buying another set even though I'm not scheduled to travel in the near future.
