The Rag Company sells microfiber cloths and automotive detailing chemicals on their website. They're having a near-sitewide sale for memorial day.

Neat. I love their stuff. I use their 350s for interior cleaning and their 500 ones for the occasional ONR wipe down.
Those Costco micro fibers are not as soft as the rags you can get from here. I recently just bought a set after my Costco microfiber caused scratches on my new black paint. What a world of difference in how soft these rags are. The Costco rags are fine for general cleaning but if you are concerned with keeping your paint the best possible, you'll want a high quality rag.

Hmmm. Thanks!

I always hated using microfiber towels until I started using good ones from places like this. The Costco towels are great for some things but for glass and drying the TRC microfiber is amazing. One thing I will say is get some Rags to Riches. It cleans my towels so well and avoid drying your rags in the dryer. These two things have made my rags stay soft and absorbent though may washes.

Love R2R too. I put my towels in the dryer on low heat and haven't had any issues.

So I assume we can mix and match a load of microfiber towels to put in the washer so we don't just have to wash the gauntlet by itself correct?

I'll have to check out that rags to riches detergent too.

Here's a YouTube video by The Rag Company going over how they recommended washing microfiber: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3noPcqTkH8

Any recc's for a ceramic-like coating? Looking at the Diamond Body 36 but I'm not sure what "caramel gloss shine" means. Is it going to have a brown tint?

I laughed out loud. No, just marketing term for candy like gloss.

How much dust will you let collect before you do a full wash compared to an ONR wipe down? We have a lot of fine dust in our area and my car gets dirty just sitting outside in a week. Even after a day you can see a light coating of dust over the whole car.
My car is garage kept. But I'd say it bothers me after a week of driving to see the dirt and pollen settle on the paint. My car is PPFd and ceramic coated so it wipes off easily. Most of the dust collects on the wheels with brake dust and it also tends to collect at the bottom of the trunk lid, especially after it rains. So 3/4 of the car can be lightly dusted but the rear collects alot of dirt spots, especially when it rains.

So I just spray the car in the garage with a dilution of ONR and wipe it all down with about 3 500 Edgeless towels or one big Gauntlet towel, also from TRC. Once my bottle of ONR finishes, I do plan to try out some other products. I heard DIY Detail's rinseless wash is a good newcomer, as is Armour Detail. And I know McKee's has been around for some time and used to be the only other quality competitor to ONR until recently.

You guys got a ton of free time. Used to clean my car with fancy towels, .etc.
But it was becoming a hassle

30-40 min once every 7-14 days to do a rinse less is hardly a hassle. After a couple washes you should be pretty efficient. I'll clean my wheels once a month

I group my towels in the wash based on their usage.

Thanks for answering all my questions. I'm curious if anyone has used All Free and Clear detergent to wash their microfiber towels and if so how well does it work? Way cheaper than the fancy stuff, lol.

I wash all of my car microfiber towels together with Rags to Riches unless some of them are contaminated with oil or something nasty. One thing I always do is that I put 1oz of RtR in a 5gal. bucket and fill it with ~3 gallons of water. Then I drop in a GritGuard and use this bucket to presoak all of my used towels. The GritGuards lets any dirt settle to the bottom of the bucket and way from the soaking towels. Once there's enough towels to do a load of laundry, I wring them out and put them in the washer. I also fill the fabric softener compartment with white vinegar to remove any remaining soap during the rinse cycle and to help keep the towels soft. Never ever use any fabric softener or fabric sheets with microfiber towels. I wash with hot waster (my water heaters are set to 120° so damaging the microfibers has never been an issue) and I always use the extra rinse cycle.

FWIW, I will never claim to have every piece of detailing knowledge or skill, but one of my cars is a concours winner with PCA (IYKYK). I've had multiple near-perfect scores, so I'm not a detailing dummy either.

I'm actually in the market for a drying towel and The Gauntlet is at the top of my list. Everything I've read and heard about are extremely positive so I'm rather perplexed by your comment. Can anyone else here comment on their experience with The Gauntlet drying towel?
Trust me I get what you're saying. I did a lot of research and read endless reviews before purchasing this one. I don't understand it either and I'm not an amateur, I've been detailing my personal vehicles for over 30 years. I didn't have this issue with my Meguirs drying towel or the no name drying towel that I had before that.

Maybe I got a bad batch or maybe it has something to do with the Turtle wax Hybrid spray wax that I use? I really have no idea. There are other reviews on Amazon that say they experienced streaking but many other reviews that say that these towels don't leave any streaks at all. They aren't all that expensive so I would suggest just trying them for yourself. I bought mine 3 years ago and I did contact them a couple of years ago about the streaking and they asked a bunch of questions on how I was using them.
