Anyone have a comment on the Avg VPN? My Nordvpn just ran out and I have been waiting on a good deal. For $10 this seems great but I'm not seeing much in reviews

Spyware and bloatware. Have an antivirus program on a flash drive ready to go. Firewalls and AV is almost bullshit for anyone that isn't being reckless... its a backdoor to spy on you.

For those who want to extend their current subscription you can add up to 5 years total. I had a 2 years subscription activation license I recently added to my existing account after it went below 3 years so I now have almost 5 years. I'm waiting for a 2 years deal which usually occurs for $35

"The validity extension of the existing subscription is possible only if the new activation code redeemed is for the same type of subscription and variation of devices. For example, if you are using a Total Security subscription for up to 5 devices, this can be extended using a code for Total Security with the same variation of devices. In the event a code for Total Security (10 devices) is being redeemed in Central, the option to extend the current subscription will not be displayed and the activation can be made in parallel.

The Central account has a validity limit of 5 years per subscription. This means that, if your current subscription is valid until 2025 and you wish to extend it by an additional 3 years, Central will return an error message and will provide the option of parallel activation."

Agreed. I'm running 7 on one computer with nothing and even MS security turned off; no issues in four years now. I've scanned it a couple of times for grins and all it picks up is the benign files that bloatware manufacturers would consider threatening to them for various reasons.

If you're responsible for maintaining a computer for an unsophisticated user, like an older relative who loves slots websites and is inclined to click on everything, yeah, you're going to want to have something monitoring things, but that's almost already covered by security that comes with either Windows or computer-branded bloatware that comes with the system. You certainly don't need these metastasizing monstrosities blanketing the hard drive and every single activity.

Looks like ESET Home Security Essential is replacing Internet Security. I need 5 pc's, so I would have to buy 3 of the $19 ($57) 2pc internet security versions, or I can just buy 1 x 5 pc home security essential for $45

This is wholly incorrect. The family pack (for this thread) allows up to 15 devices in ANY combo of Windows, Mac, IOS, Android.

I will say its usage for Apple devices is minimal I normally process ad blockers through them although if you have the license you can use it. Perhaps there is some value in the web protection module but this is nothing you can't get for free

To me this is more value if you have WIndows or Android and there is normally a 2 year $35 ish deal that comes around and I stack, so this deal is lukewarm at best.

The biggest drag is all the ways they inject the VPN product and try to upsell you and it will reinstall so I have to manually disable it. This otherwise sullies a solid product.
