If you are extending an existing Ultimate subscription, do not buy 12 month cards! Instead buy the 3 month cards.
If you are stacking these to convert to Ultimate afterwards then you don't have to worry about this. The conversion rate is a static 3:2 (66%) no matter how much time you are converting.
However, if you already have ultimate and wish to use this to extend your subscription then DO NOT BUY 12 MONTH CARDS!
You need to be aware that the conversion rate for extending Ultimate with Core cards provides different conversion rates based on how many months the card is for, and 12 month cards convert at almost half the rate as 3 month cards.
According to Microsoft's FAQ's,[xbox.com] a 3 month core subscription card will convert into 50 days of Ultimate, so a rate of about 55%. Meanwhile, a 12 month core subscription card converts into only 120 days of Ultimate, a conversion rate of 33%.
BOTTOM LINE: With this deal you will spend $43.20 for 120 days, or about $0.36/day.
If you buy three 3 month core cards from this same website for $45.57, you will get 150 days of ultimate at a cost of $0.30/day.
(You could also shop around and get better deals than this, ex: Eneba currently has the 3 month cards for a couple bucks less.)
Warning. This is just Xbox Live rebranded. You don't get the same selection of games as Game Pass Ultimate
I just bought three of these for $44.39 each yesterday 😭
For those wondering I've had my xbox for less than a year and am relatively new to console gaming. GPU is absolutely the way to go for a casual like me.
Since I heard about the conversion rate I've been waiting for a deal to buy three years of core and convert to GPU. The newegg deal reminded me and my GPU had finally expired. Newegg was oos so I went with cdkeys.
First of all I bought and redeemed them one by one and had no problems. Finally I bought one month of GPU and it converted 3:2. So 36 months of core converted to 24 months of GPU. Plus one month for the GPU I used now I have 25 months of GPU which came out to $5.70 a month. Definitely a slickdeal.
Again you have to have your GPU sub lapse to receive the 3:2 conversion. Otherwise it converts at the 3:1 rate.
75%. I bought the month of GPU to upgrade and my new expiration date is now 2/22/25.

Mine lapsed but I am going monthly. Would I cancel the current monthly sub, wait for it to expire, then add the standard, and finally re-up to GPU?

Seems like it but I'm not sure. You wouldn't be a "new" subscriber. I literally just did the conversion using the India VPN method. 6 6-month Xbox Core redeemed to 25 months of Ultimate.
I don't think enough people realize that Ultimate covers your Xbox and PC. My son plays tons of Xbox games — MLB The Show, Forza, Madden — and I love me some sim and strat games — Crusader Kings, Farming Simulator. We have noticed a big difference in our QOL once our Ultimate expired a few months ago. I've been stuck with me Steam backlog and Epic Games freebies, and my son has been playing exclusively on our PS5. Can't wait to get the Xbox back in the rotation.
isn't this a better deal than the other for new subscribers by like $6?
Let's do the math.
This deal: $42 for 12 months. No conversion, no exchange rate. Simple.
Other deal: Approximately $10 for each six months of Core. Assuming your Game Pass Ultimate has lapsed, you will get a 3:2 conversion rate of Core —-> GPU. You could buy 3 6-month Core subscriptions for about $30 before taxes and fees, plus a 1-month GPU sub for about $10 after fees and taxes to trigger the conversion.
That's about $40 (let's say $45 after fees, but I don't have that info handy) compared to $42. So the numbers look better if you go the Newegg route. But the numbers get better in favor of Eneba the longer you go.

I used the VPN and conversion trick and ended up with 25 months of Ultimate for $81.
Use code GGDjdx7oc for an additional 8% off.
Look up Xbox core in the SD threads. It will show you the way.
