Musician's Friend has the Fender Player Stratocaster Roasted Maple Fingerboard With Fat '50s Pickups Limited-Edition Electric Guitar in Surf Green or Black for $650, with free shipping and 8% Musician's Friend Rewards.

Update: no more black, but fiesta red is available at this price.

Unlike my recent post of the HSS Plus Top model (for $600), these are the traditional SSS configuration with the Fat 50's pickups, except for the tone controls. Tone 1 controls the neck and middle; tone 2 controls the bridge. The roasted neck should prevent/limit fret sprout in addition to feeling nice.

The Fat 50's pickups alone (if bought separately) retail for about $270 new.

These are Made in Mexico.

I just highlighted that in the specs. Thanks.

For me, the pau ferro is a feature.

Yeah, I actually kind of like pau ferro, but I know plenty of folks who don't, and when I noticed that the GC/MF listing says "roasted maple fingerboard" I figured I should say something. Good deal on a cool guitar!

Pau Ferro may work alright and I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but she sure ain't the prettiest thing.

I wish it were darker, but I still prefer it to maple.

Pau ferro over roasted maple? There's at least one of you.

There's 2 of us. On the black I like the darker fingerboard.
I saw a surf green one and the roasted maple in store at Guitar Center and it had an almost grayish, sickly hue to it. Probably depends on the batch, but it was disappointing. Roasted maple I'm sure feels good, and the words sound good as copy — reminds me of Don Draper saying lucky strikes are "toasted" — but I think Pau Ferro looks fine on the black axe.

For some reason, the red one doesn't seem to be coming up (it just takes you back to the surf green).

MF sometimes has site issues that are transient.
I updated the OP to include a link to the red. See if that works?

The link is coming up 404 and now the red model seems to have been replaced with black again. Get it together, Musician's Friend!

EDIT: Looks like they got it together and now all three colors are available. Nice!
