FAQ's:
- No, you cannot use Staples GC's to purchase these.
- No, these do not count towards your spend requirements for a premier membership.
- No, these do not earn you any Staples rewards.
- No, you cannot use coupons/ rewards to purchase these GC's.
- Yes, you can split payment between multiple cards (if your cashier permits it) YMMV
- The limit of 8 may or may not be enforced depending on your store/ cashier. YMMV
- Why is this a deal? Some members have CC's that earn 5% CB at office supply stores (INK and Amex Simply Cash). Others need to meet minimum CC spend.
- What if my store doesn't accept payment with a CC? Your store likely has had issues with fraud and it is managers discretion on what payment they will accept.
- Other chase cards may have special offers for Staples ($ limited). Check your chase account under chase offers.

does it have to a single $200 card or can it be a combination totaling $200 in one transaction?

I think it has to be the single $200 cards in order to trigger the discount at the register. It doesn't total it up and discount, the quoted amount $7.95 fee for the $200 card is the exact disclosed amount on the receipt.

Thanks OP I follow you specifically for this one and any other gems you may come across! Smilie

I first came across this last fall, and I didn't know how frequent (if ever) it was repeated. It some week they had mastercard one week and visa the next. I bought a bunch of MC and then bought a bunch of Visa. The MC are easier to use of course. Looking back it was crazy to buy that much and have no real idea the ins-and-outs of how they work. I had to develop an accounting system, and fortunately the gift cards give some rudimentary accounting.

Anyway, I'm ready for more, and would prefer to buy not scads of these things, but smaller batches, more often. I believe the chase ink cards I use have an annual spend limit, reset every calendar year.

They work best for places you don't do returns often (or at all) and don't have built-in points bonus already (ie I have a 3x grocery already, but don't do grocery returns. Costco or Sams you don't get 3x bonus, but I do returns, so generally get shop cards rather than trying to track the return back to the Visa GC. Also Walmart will send through an extra amount for pre authorizations, then it reduces to purchase amount after a week or two. That's a bit more to track.) You get the hang of it after awhile.

I just used 10 of these to pay home insurance. Quickest way to spend them.
