How much further do you need to go?
I remember that deal. I didn't have a need for a managed switch and still don't have a need for one
I cannot justfy the purchase, but I still want this!!

Lol! What an unhinged comment! 🤣
To answer the original question, a managed switch opens up your network to more layer 2 and/or 3 tools such as vlan management to segment devices talking to each other on your network (great if you want to separate smart home/IoT stuff from snooping on important devices in your home), routing (if layer 3 capable), spanning tree, and a whole slew of other useful tools. An unmanaged network has none of that functionality and pretty much acts as a dummy that allows devices to connect to the same flat network (i.e. no other vlans).
If none of this makes sense to you, you may not need one or should investigate further since there's tons of free resources available.
I guess it depends on your perspective. Your flat network is inherently insecure with all of your iot devices and stuff talking to each other and all of your other devices that they shouldn't even care about.
