Seems like a good deal for the hw. Is skytech a reputable brand?

Had one a couple years ago ended up having to replace the case because it was a hot box with too much glass.

That's less a brand issue and more a parts issue.

Got a pre built last november from them that was cheaper than buying the parts. Shipping took a bit but it was around thanksgiving, build was fine but i didnt care for the case so i swapped it to another case.

I can only speak on my one experience with them, but I had to contact customer support once and it took a month for them to respond. There was also something glued to a fan and had to get that off. Other than that the pc works great now

I'm currently using a Skytech, it's treated me well so far. When I was initially researching computers and they kept popping up in my searches. The main gripe that I saw at the time was that you really don't know what brand of parts you're getting for like RAM, HDD, GPU, etc. My biggest fear was getting a blower-style GPU, which inevitably came true. Mine came with a Blower style card. I haven't had any issues with how loud it is, nor does it get too hot. Been happy with the purchase.

I will say, this was my first pre-built, and I didn't know protocol about opening it up to troubleshoot if there was an issue. When it first arrived, it wouldn't turn on, so I called the manufacturer because it had something on the packaging about opening it up or something to troubleshoot. Called, spoke with someone almost immediately. They asked if I could open it up to look at the GPU, so I did. Whoever installed it didn't do the best job getting it mounted to the MOBO(and it wasn't due to shipping, they did a really great job at putting spacers in the case so the parts wouldn't bounce around). Unplugged, re-plugged it in. Screwed it to the case, booted right up. Been great ever since.

Which of these would work best for non-gaming use (3d CAD, photo & video editing, etc) ?

I think the 14700F CPU is better overall, so I'd go for this one: Skytech Azure Gaming PC $1394.99

I bought a top of the line build in 2019 from them with a 3900x and 2080 TI. The 2080 Ti started having driver crashes mid game on anything, and they replaced it very quickly. Also they responded within 15 minutes during work hours to emails in 2020 while under warranty. They originally replaced it with a 3070 not having a 2080 TI in stock, and I mentioned I wanted a 2080 Ti back and they told me to give them a month. They let me swap it back to a 2080 TI. So I know it's just one experience, but that one interaction which could have been super painful was actually really pleasant.

Is there a prebuilt cheaper than this that will run blender well? It's for my son that's struggling with an older all in one system for digital art.

Without knowing the specs of their current system and what they're struggling with, you're not going to get a definitive answer.

If it's general slowness with the UI, all you need is any discrete GPU made in the last decade. If their all in one doesn't have that, it's probably the biggest pain point.

You can find systems with a current generation Nvidia GPU like the 4060 within the $800-$1000 range, which will be more than enough for learning Blender.

I have no enthusiasm for this deal. Too risky of a brand and Amazon doesn't have the best return policy for electronics. I'd rather spend $100-150 more to get a 4070 Super TI or say $500 less and get a 4060.
