It's mainly meant for gaming, that's why people pay a significant premium on this over 5700x.

What's interesting is that AMD started putting 3D v-cache on their server CPUs.
But it looks like it's mainly meant for CAD and engineering applications.

Oh man…I've been looking at this for so long. I have a 5500 and 6700xt and all I really play is CS2. I just don't know if it's worth keeping AM4 alive or whether I should bite and get the 7700x bundle for $370. Or, just keep doing nothing because, I really don't need to upgrade. Man this is tempting though.

If you really don't need to upgrade and your performance is good enough already, you are better off saving the money now and waiting a couple of years. But, that little number showing FPS won't be quite as high, ha!

When I ask such questions about my rig, I just wait. It is better to do so. There will always be deals on future tech.

I think your better off upgrading your GPU before you do anything with your CPU or platform. Your GPU will be your bottleneck after a cpu upgrade and it won't make much of a difference. I think your current system is plenty good

Currently running a Ryzen 5 3600 with a 3070 and 32 GB of RAM on a B450 board. Would it be worth it to get this or jump into the new (to me) generation of products?

The 5600 was $118 at Amazon two years ago during black Friday and it came with a video game that was just released. You've been sitting on that 2700x for 6 years 😭. The 5600 is 65W TDP too. Less money towards your electricity bill each month, and better performance.

AMD and NVIDIA are getting cocky now. When they were desperate for sales they'd give you a new game release for free. Now they boost the price up and you get no free game.
