3D Cache CPU's are only useful for gaming, but mostly at 1080P or 1440P resolutions at extremely high refresh rates that are only useful for extremely high refresh rate monitors. Gamers that find this useful are into competitive First Person Shooters because it gives advantages in certain tactics like peek and shoot. These are the types of games that typically experience CPU limitation, because refresh rates are in the multiple hundreds which stresses the CPU. But at 4k gaming that is never an issue.

You can get a clue that you're CPU limited by lowering the resolution or quality settings. If your frame rates don't increase, then it's probably because the CPU is limiting frame rates.

A few very recent games can experience CPU limitation at 4k. Such as the recently released Star Wars Survivor. Starfield is also CPU intensive, but maybe only with a 600 Watt massive Nvidia 4090 will you notice a difference. And the difference won't really be enough yet to really be noticeable in these games.

If you really don't need to upgrade and your performance is good enough already, you are better off saving the money now and waiting a couple of years. But, that little number showing FPS won't be quite as high, ha!

I have last year's version of this and it's great. Paired with a 3060 12gb and had no problems with anything at 1080p/144hz. Haven't tried it with 1440p because my monitor is 1080.

For anyone hesitating and on a 5600x, do it. The gains aren't crazy but the 1% low improvements make for a better experience. Dragons Dogma 2 now run much better for me. Sell your 5600x locally.

Exactly. I've got a 3600X that still seems fantastic.

In 2019, it replaced my i7-2600K from 2011. Good CPUs just don't bottleneck you until they're REALLY old. By the time I'm ready to overclock for a 10% gain, it seems worth it to just rebuild for the next USB or PCIe version.

I went from an 1800x to a 5700x, and I will say it was nice being able to stably run my memory at 3200MHz, plus the IPC and cache improvements made gaming a lot better. IMO — it was worth it, but to each their own.

The 5600X3D even does a significantly good job at big gains. You can't go wrong with any of the X3D models.

I only have a MSI 450 Gaming Plus Max mobo. Is that even fully compatible with this? I forget my VGA. Maybe I'll upgrade it but I ran most games on 80-90% of it's specs.

I'm with you on that sentiment, but at the same time, any zen3 chip is an insane upgrade over the 2700x, and the 5700x3d is probably 50% faster in games. I'm on a 5700x and kind of regretting not having an x3d chip, but it's still plenty fast in games and will last me til am6.

hmmm i have an aliexpress ryzen 5600 i got for like 85, but this would cost me probably 200

i have a 3070, and if i instead put about 115 towards that, i could probably end up getting a 3080, which would serve me better than a cpu upgrade :/
