If you're using TorGuard VPN, the Mumbai server will not work (apparently Microsoft knows their IP addresses). You'll get the "purchased in a different region from your account" error. However, the Bangalore server works perfectly.
Some other VPNs may also have the same issue. The "purchased in a different region from your account" error typically means you should try connecting to a different city in India or try using a different VPN. It does not mean that you should change your XBox account's region from the US to India, this is never required.

last year I did the 1:1 conversion before it changed in July 2023 and I was able to get it a little under $3 per month. So $0.50 per month doesn't sound like a lot, but it adds up since you are doing 24-36 months.
Apparently the VPN sets a weird user agent, or at least one MS doesn't like, which is weird.
But this is a bit of a nightmare. I'd rather pay full price than battle with a slow internet connection!
EDIT: If anyone else runs into this problem, just go to redeem.microsoft.com without the VPN, and then turn it on before you enter the code and click submit. Then it'll work.

Go to "With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, can I still redeem codes for Xbox Live Gold..." It will show the conversion rate for each card to GPU.

Now all I have to do is buy one month (stackable or non stackable?) of Game Pass Ultimate and it will convert my 3 years core into 2 years ultimate, is that correct?
