Much of the low end frequency spectrum is felt due to room pressurization not due to hearing it. That is why some subs go below hearing range. it is quite noticable when your sub is not able to go that low and you are missing thatsignal information.

This thing gets so low I almost regret getting it. It's not in a room fully treated for it, so when it gets going, things in the room rattle, so many rattles, so I turn it down, but then the audible and barely subsonic frequencies aren't as strong as I'd like. I could eq it, but then I'd feel like I was wasting money by no utilizing its potential.

You have it somewhere that is probably picking up room gain, this sub drops off like a rock below 16 hz. EQ it and see at least, you lose nothing by trying.

I just got the 15" version for free from some lady on fb. The Amp is dead. Can you order amps from klipsch? I already have way more subs than I need before this one. I may use this as a sub for my arcade cabinet.

I suggest you do a quick google search for the 15" klipsch subs and amp problems. It was a huge issue so you may get lucky and get a courtesy replacement. Otherwise good luck

This is lowest price yet, was $1050 back in April. Running 4 of these and they will seriously pressurize your room. Whether you are running one or multiple definitely pick up a umik, rew, and mso to get them calibrated. These are without a doubt the best bang for the buck. SVS Ultra performs a bit better for 50% more cost, beyond that you're looking at something like JTRs for multiple times the cost. If you are on the fence, pull the trigger on this deal.

Can someone smarter than me on home audio comment how this would compare price and performance-wise against an Ultimax 18 with a 1kW plate amp and a home built enclosure? Excluding labor, seems like cost of materials is pretty close.

The benefit of using the Ultimax would be tailoring the enclosure response to your liking. And diy satisfaction Smilie I am an avid audio diy guy, but I also own one of these in a fourteen and it is impressive. I only wish I had another to better balance room modes!

Well considering the human ear can only pick up frequencies down to 20hz, what's the point getting it to play below that? Except if you're trying to communicate with blue whales, or just like the vibrations, frequencies that low shouldn't be high on anyone's priority list. Very very few noises below even 35 or 30 are even enjoyable (even thats debatable) It's more of a bragging rights thing. Like my Ferrari can go 240 type flex. Unless you like listening to natural sounding massive pipe organs or Natural Thunderclaps in nature. What's the point of having a speaker play that low? The human ear can only hear between 20hz all the way through to 20k hertz. nothing below and nothing over those 2 numbers are even audible to the human ear.
Much of the low end frequency spectrum is felt due to room pressurization not due to hearing it. That is why some subs go below hearing range. it is quite noticable when your sub is not able to go that low and you are missing thatsignal information.

Yep. It's the same reason people put bass shakers in. You cant hear them but they add a lot to the experience.
