Pulled the trigger. I'll try it out. I'm sure Samsung will offer higher trade in value for their current or next year's phones

How was the process of getting refund from ebay? I really want to get this but cant be bothered with the hassle if anything goes wrong.
I had to escalate the return into a case. I actually called eBay support and spoke with someone over the phone. Thankfully they were able to manually approve a refund, but it wasn't until I opened a case. Took a week or so after they received the return.

How much longer will it get updates? My S20 Ultra will only get updates quarterly now, probably no more updates next year. Phone is still good, but is getting sluggish doing certain things.
Fwiw I have a three year old one as I type this running android 14. It's a corporate phone running on Verizon which might change things.. It's beginning to show its age with battery /charging type issues but I think it just needs a deep clean in the usb port. Not as snappy as when I got it, definitely sluggish. Weird stuff is beginning to happen (today my carrier signal vanished till I rebooted)

Edit sorry might have been responding to the wrong post. I do have some info here though. End of life is unfortunately up to the carrier, sorta. For example my in laws got some cheap Motorola phones from Google Fi two years ago, brand new, and they are already EOL for security updates. I believe when I checked, there was another network still pushing updates. I'm planning on jailbreaking/flashing them soon, but it's pretty stupid we have to do this.

TLDR, I wouldn't waste your time/money on this.

Android 15 will be the last major update this phone would receive. Currently the phone is on Android 14. So still one more major update, hopefully with OneUI 7.0 is expected. That might happen towards the end of this year.

After that there might be a year or so of security updates. So I would say roughly two more years.

Worth the switch from my Pixel 6?
I would take my old S8 with a broken screen over my Pixel 6. I hate this phone.

makes no sense

phone is too old and no updates

also all samsung's in a sense get very hot the sd processor is still not there yet.

better to get a cheap a35 or something for a few hundred bucks and keep as backup.

or that verizon total deal for a a54 for 100 and unlock and keep as backup.
So, you're saying a Corolla is better than a Supra? Whew…, thanks Bruh for your insight.

Is Walmart a better reseller if there are issues? They claim a 90day return policy. I was looking at a similar - deal (unlocked - Verizon). Refurb - Good. I am with Verizon and do not plan to change anytime soon. Thanks.

That's weird, my Pixel 6 is on 15 (albeit beta) and working well. I am tempted by the deal for better integration with my Galaxy watch.

Bought from this seller before.
Sent me a phone with poor quality aftermarket display. When I returned the phone they claimed the box I sent was empty. After I pushed back they said "oh sorry the box isn't empty. You sent us a different phone". Very shady tactics and I don't know why a larger eBay seller would try to pull petty scams. I had to go through eBay for a refund.
I've had this happen with another cell phone reseller on ebay. The pattern is that it seems like they make up some BS to not give you a full refund. The reason being if they refund only half of the refund it'll show that you got a refund (and most people don't bother to check out much of a refund) and blocks you from leaving negative feedback. As soon as you push back they cave in. For me, they sent a damaged device with damage and then claim I did the damage to it. My advice is to take pictures of the device beforehand, take pictures of you packing it, and get a receipt from usps confirming you dropped it off. Thankfully most sellers will cave in as soon as you fight back, because if you esculate to ebay, they'll almost also side with the buyer - and then leave a red mark on the seller's account.

No experience on these, but if I recall correctly the warranty excludes the battery.
