Ebikes coming into the USA from China are going to be slapped with a 25% tariff after June 14 it seems:

From my limited research...

Reddit says stay away from this company if you want long term support.

YouTube reviews (paid/incentivized) says great bike for the price.

SD commenters are more interested in teaching Global Macroeconomics 101.

I can't see any reason to spend this much on something that can very well become paperweight after about a year of usage. Which is a shame. I would've liked to have gotten a "Slickdeal".

Geez y'all... Can we talk about the bike instead?

So I bought two of the Austin for $519 for my kids back then. I'm thinking of getting this for myself. They've put over 200 miles on it since and no issues (got 2 flats but thats on my kids).

This one is couple hundred more..but it does have 750w motor/52V 13AH battery vs. 500w/48V 14AH battery on the Austin.

All else seems to be similar--20x3 fat tire, mechanical brakes (ugh), top speed, weight, etc.

Not sure if its worth the $200 if I'm only getting the bigger motor. If they had upgraded the brakes to hydraulics, then maybe its a consideration. But I'll hold off until a better deal comes around...

Scam, the actual selling price in the store is $799, not $699

need to add the code at checkout >> ABUNDANTLIFE100 will take 100 off

I bought one last night. The last green one for the day. They are back in stock today. I hope we get within a couple of weeks the most. I tried contacting them to see if I can switch with the black one since I think is available for shipping right away as it does not say available early June like the green one. I will let you all know if I hear back

Thank you
They got back to me overnight and said the green should be shipping this week but I could switch to the black one if I wanted it to be shipped immediately. I just wanted to let you know at least, someone is alive from the other side and replying Smilie

Already seeing this after trying to cancel my order after 30 mins. They pushed back 3 times and now they're charging bf a 5% fee for cancellation. Their replies take a minimum of 15+ hours

This is a general fact about all fat-tire ebikes, but I only realized it after buying mine: the fat tires do not fit in the bike holders on things like busses, tire-holding bike racks and car racks, etc. These bikes are heavy enough that you wouldn't put them on a bus rack, but otherwise keep in mind fat tires exclude you from fitting in most tire-holding bike systems. They provide a great ride, though!

Hey folks.

I very rarely post here, but I've been watching this deal and just saw a 20% coupon on eBay for this same bike:

eBay link [ebay.com]

The price is listed at $720 for the black bike, minus 20% makes it $576 + 45 in tax makes $621, $80 cheaper than this posted deal (!).

I did purchase the AllState 3-year extended warranty for the extra $40 for the extra piece of mind, although I realize these warranties are hit-or-miss.

I hope this helps someone else who may be on the fence like me and wants the extra $80 off...

Cheers!

This bike has 3" tires. No 4" fat tires. Big difference.

I just bought a Ride1Up Portola, otherwise I would have jumped at this deal. I've watched quite a few reviews on this bike and they have all been favorable. Here's what I've learned from the reviews.

Pros
  • Very powerful motor, top performer for hill climbing, great acceleration
  • Great screen
  • Good suspension
  • Decent weight
  • Front and rear rack are nice inclusions
  • Easy access to battery

Cons
  • Suspension seat makes this difficult for shorter people to ride. Replacing the seat post fixes this issue though
  • Mechanical brakes have average performance
  • Front light does not follow wheel direction when mounted on front rack
  • Ghost pedaling occurs at higher speeds
  • Longer than usual delay for motor to kick in when using PAS
  • Cannot unlock throttle speed limit
  • Key needs to be in battery for bike to run
Unknown
  • Whether or not battery range meets Engwe's claims
  • Quality of Engwe's customer service

I've researched many comparably spec'd ebikes (Vitilan U7, i7 Pro, Velotric Fold, Ride1Up Portola, Lextric XP 3.0, Aventon Sinch, RadExpand 5, HeyBike Mars 2.0) and think the Engwe L20 2.0 is the best choice at $699, especially considering how powerful this 52v motor is and the overall good performance of the bike.
I also purchased a Ride1Up Portola. I did a bunch of research too on what is the best fold-up e-bike and this came out first. I have had it ~4 months now and it has been trouble free. I purchased it with the upgraded battery and the range with battery life to spare has been excellent. I also ordered it with the optional rear passenger seat for the grandkids. The bike is built like a tank. Customer support is excellent. I called them once with a question and spoke to an American rep.
For the price the Engwe's specs, except for the mechanical disk brakes, look good. I agree with this poster that the unknown with Engwe is how is their customer service.

Does anyone know if the Allstate protection plan via eBay includes the battery on ebikes? Searching it up gets conflicting answers.

Thanks! Got off the fence and snagged one

Missed the Austin deal
Hesitated on the Drifter cuz I wanted a step through with 3" tires for less rolling resistance

Looks like this fits the bill for 40 bucks more with more torque - and avoid the looming tariffs

Fingers crossed!

Ordered 1. Also curious about the battery on Allstate warranty. It would have to be.

I received my bike last week and it actually seems like a pretty solid bike.

Looks like this was updated back to 799. When i tried to make an offer, it only went as low as $750 (looked to be an instant offer)
