Ebikes coming into the USA from China are going to be slapped with a 25% tariff after June 14 it seems:

From my limited research...

Reddit says stay away from this company if you want long term support.

YouTube reviews (paid/incentivized) says great bike for the price.

SD commenters are more interested in teaching Global Macroeconomics 101.

I can't see any reason to spend this much on something that can very well become paperweight after about a year of usage. Which is a shame. I would've liked to have gotten a "Slickdeal".

Geez y'all... Can we talk about the bike instead?

So I bought two of the Austin for $519 for my kids back then. I'm thinking of getting this for myself. They've put over 200 miles on it since and no issues (got 2 flats but thats on my kids).

This one is couple hundred more..but it does have 750w motor/52V 13AH battery vs. 500w/48V 14AH battery on the Austin.

All else seems to be similar--20x3 fat tire, mechanical brakes (ugh), top speed, weight, etc.

Not sure if its worth the $200 if I'm only getting the bigger motor. If they had upgraded the brakes to hydraulics, then maybe its a consideration. But I'll hold off until a better deal comes around...

Mine also came with a misaligned back rack. I basically just bent and forced it where I could fit in the bolt and washer. I was able to tighten it and it look sturdy enough but maybe not the full max weight
Same, misaligned back rack. I was able to bend and force it in place as well.

Got mine today. 5 days. It is for a friend. Overall for the price, I am happy, but not elated. Box was a bit damaged but not the bike. Very well packed. No front basket included. but did throw in a cheap/ mini hand pump. All parts were there and instalation took about 35 minutes(have done 2 other bikes). Watch the video on youtube and throw the instructions away as they are garbage.

My 2cents. decent bike and very quick. Build quality seems good, as all the screws lined up. the tools then sent would work, but are throw aways. I have a Juiced Ripcurrent S , which is much bigger. I don't feel cofident on this bike as I do on the larger ripcurrent. I am 6'3" 225lbs 32" inseem. I fit on this bike fine, but the seat / handle bar setup made pedaling seem akward. But it could just be that I am used to the bigger bike. The Ripcurrent does feels more like a real bike as this seems more like a toy.

Hints:
1.) with no front basket, I attached the light to the fender screw.
2.) You need to line the lock button on the back of the battery, to the hole on the frame when inserted or you key will not turn to the on position. You need the key in to ride.

3.) No matter how tight I torque it, the front steering wheel will still move(left to right with the wheel stationary between my legs
4.) watch your fingers when inserting battery, it can pinch Frown 5.) the Back rack wasn't an exact fit, but just push it in as you tighten the screws

Does anyone have an issue with the front brake (left handlebar) not doing anything? The instructions are unclear to me

Phone doesn't get answered and their website support isn't adequate. I'm not even sure if my email support ticket went through.

It's not looking good, hopefully I didn't just buy a 700$ paperweight.

Update: figured out the issue, the slide for the battery was at the wrong height and so required adjustment before being able to turn the key to turn it on. A workaround is to slowly pull the battery up while turning the key to 'on' and it should lock into place. The correct fix is to adjust the height of the slide so that the contacts are solidly in place and the key can be turned. After I figured it out they (tech support) called me, probably about a 2-3 hour turn around, so it could be worse.

I had similar problem because I installed the wheel on the wrong side.

Thanks, I realized I had it on the wrong way too. Now the disc brake is a bit noisy and hard to get a smooth rotation but otherwise rides okay

Is there a way to hit 28mph throttle only?
If there was you would only be allowed to use on private property or a couple other areas in a couple states in usa

Assembled my black one (another green on the way) last night / this morning. No front rack even though the instructions talk about it. Instructions are pretty bare minimum and omit many details, you might be better off just ignoring them and using common sense to assemble. I had to inspect online pictures to make sure the handlebar stem was oriented correctly as there doesnt appear to be any indicators under/around the fold joint. Rear rack was pre attached near the hub (contrary to assembly directions) and I was able to connect top two screws without too much fuss. Now that I'm thinking about it wondering if I missed some other mounting point for rear rack. Took me entirely too long to find the buttons for the display (hint: they're not on the display itself and poorly marked) so I haven't even gotten around to trying the motor assist. Other than some light rubbing of front brake disc on caliper seems mechanically ok. Other than the garbage manual I'm satisfied so far

This 'little' 20" bike is tall even with the seat all the way down. I'm 5'7" and I easily fit my big-fat-tire 26" electric bike. At a stop, on this smaller 20" bike, I'm stretching my toes.
Confirm here, my daughter is 5'3" and can't stop stand, have to return it anyway

Check that your front wheel brake disc is sitting between the brake pads

No words yet from Engwe about my mangled rear rack.

Well, screw it. I'm not waiting for Engwe. Let them "Dragon Boat Festival" party.

Tossed the lame looking rear rack. Using the zip-ties found in the shipping box, I mounted the brake light near the battery. The 10 minute fix turned my bike into a sleek bare-bones 'Engwe Café Racer.'

Café is quick and very nimble. Since I didn't get the front rack and eliminated the rear one, I reduced weight 11%. Original weight 68.3 lbs. trimmed down to 60.8 lbs. Good for more speed 'snap.' Maybe better range. Now with less top weight, the center of gravity is lower. That is good. Keeping it low is the smaller 3.0×20 tires. Like a low to the ground mid-engine sports car, it scoots, is more road hugging and feels confident.

The original L20 is strong off the line. Café is stronger. How do I know? My coworker bought two. Café versus stock: we had a drag & maneuver race. Traded bikes and tried again. Café also wins in braking. No lag: I easily beat cars across intersections. I look in my (add on) mirror: many drivers are surprised.

My son thinks it's cool looking.

The bike is value and ours is more fun. And it folds!

Any idea how this compares to the Lectric XP lite 2.0 for $800?

Pros being this is foldable, higher capacity battery but lectric having us support, hopefully higher quality, hydraulic brakes

Hey folks.

I very rarely post here, but I've been watching this deal and just saw a 20% coupon on eBay for this same bike:

eBay link [ebay.com]

The price is listed at $720 for the black bike, minus 20% makes it $576 + 45 in tax makes $621, $80 cheaper than this posted deal (!).

I did purchase the AllState 3-year extended warranty for the extra $40 for the extra piece of mind, although I realize these warranties are hit-or-miss.

I hope this helps someone else who may be on the fence like me and wants the extra $80 off...

Cheers!
It's $799 now. I don't have to pay tax in this state. Even without tax, it comes $639 which is more than you paid WITH tax. Mad

Edit: Made offer for original price (+ coupon). Let's see.

It doesn't say anything about being UL 2849 certified.
