Ebikes coming into the USA from China are going to be slapped with a 25% tariff after June 14 it seems:

From my limited research...

Reddit says stay away from this company if you want long term support.

YouTube reviews (paid/incentivized) says great bike for the price.

SD commenters are more interested in teaching Global Macroeconomics 101.

I can't see any reason to spend this much on something that can very well become paperweight after about a year of usage. Which is a shame. I would've liked to have gotten a "Slickdeal".

Geez y'all... Can we talk about the bike instead?

So I bought two of the Austin for $519 for my kids back then. I'm thinking of getting this for myself. They've put over 200 miles on it since and no issues (got 2 flats but thats on my kids).

This one is couple hundred more..but it does have 750w motor/52V 13AH battery vs. 500w/48V 14AH battery on the Austin.

All else seems to be similar--20x3 fat tire, mechanical brakes (ugh), top speed, weight, etc.

Not sure if its worth the $200 if I'm only getting the bigger motor. If they had upgraded the brakes to hydraulics, then maybe its a consideration. But I'll hold off until a better deal comes around...

It's $799 now. I don't have to pay tax in this state. Even without tax, it comes $639 which is more than you paid WITH tax.

Edit: Made offer for original price (+ coupon). Let's see.
I made an offer and they countered with $750. They recently resent a final offer of $775 so not sure it's gonna get better

My unit does not show anything on the main display when charging. There is a small led panel on the top of the battery but it doesn't show anything either. The only sign is a small led light on the charger. Is this normal?

Mine just came in and I assembled it based off YouTube videos because the instructions are unclear. I'm missing the front rack and the bolt to connect the front light. Back rack seems fine. The tire inflator got flattened but I didn't really need that anyways. There are some scratches on the display.

Same, misaligned back rack. I was able to bend and force it in place as well.
Ditto here; putting back rack took the longest

Looking forward to your good news

I thought about these emails. What am I feeling here? Yeah; a cold template response. So, I said what I said earlier; "Screw it." This is what I replied:

Hi.

Thank your for your sympathy. Nothing in your emails mentions replacing my L20's shipping-damaged (bent & twisted) rear rack. Thank you for your support and your strong reinforcement that I need to repair (or remove) it. It is apparent you are unwilling to replace shipping damaged parts. I give up. This is way too much trouble. You win.

I have already sent you two pictures and a video. You are complaining that I didn't mention "the screw problem?" I am not going to make another video: an hour video on how the rear rack will not fit.

Let's get real. You won't send me a working rack. Fine. You are in control. Do not send me another one.

I will not support you. At a popular forum, I will update my problems. To a coworker, I recommended your bike. In one day, he bought a two – a black & green one. You can check. He lives in Lodi, California, USA. Despite not being bent and/or twisted, he complained about installing his rear racks. From me; no more recommendations. Not anymore. Too bad: your bikes are nice but your support is – thin.

Take me off your mailing list.

I guarantee that will not worry. Moving on – I'm on the road and won't look back. I wish your company well. Good luck. I hope your future is bright.

No more communications are necessary.

Thank you.

Mine came with the handle bar part out, in the instructions there nothing about adding the handle bar bar to the bike, any tips?

https://youtu.be/0TF-cn-bs3s?t=117

It appears in their assembly video the bar is attached to the bike and folded, mine was not.

They responded to my email to say the front rack does not come with it. The damage I showed them they said they'll send me a saddle bag and a password lock to make up for the broken tire inflator and the scratch on my display. I have 2 other pieces I cannot determine where they came from. To put on the bike. The post between the handlebar and the bike also did not come pre attached on my bike like krew790s comment. I was also wondering why it wasn't in any instructions but just attached it. Took forever to figure out the alignment since it has to be folded down to tighten it.

So is the consensus that products regularly arrive damaged/missing parts, and the company is a nightmare to deal with (and correct the issue)?

My green bike came in. For the money this is a tremendous value. My rear rack was good but I did not get a front rack, but I was planning on not installing it anyway, so all good. The bike was able to carry me up a pretty steep hill throttle only and I'm 240lbs. I am happy with mu purchase but I won't expect much costumer support from them, so if you are picky, this is probably not for you as most likely it's not going to be perfect

I have very similar experience as this. Green bike. No front rack (and can live with that). Rear rack was no issue to screw in place. (No nightmare to bend things into place). As recommended in the forum, I skipped the instructions and saw some online videos. Wasn't too hard to assemble. Just took a bit of time to get the handlebars lined up with the front wheel. I also rode up a pretty steep hill with throttle only, but more weight. I'm 190 and daughter 100 on the rear rack. No problem going up the hill. And yes, I know the rear rack says max 25kg (~55lb), but neither of us wanted to walk up the hill.

Sorry to hear about other people's problems. I think some are lucky and some are not. But the value here is great.

By the way, one top site had +5% c b. Was that enough hints? And Amex Blue gives another 3%. So with little effort you can save another +8%.

This 3-inch bike will indeed not fit in the 2-inch bus bike rack tire slot.

Could this realistically be carried INSIDE the bus?

Edit: I don't actually have this item (yet). I'd like to know how portable it is from someone who has it.

It doesn't fold completely tight but for reference you should be able to fit it in a 50 gallon tote.
You will need some sort of straps to hold the folded pieces together good luck with your choice

It's fairly hefty too. Some videos I saw mentioned 60-70lbs. Not bad for short distance once in a while. But not sure if you want regularly haul this into a bus or not.
