First thing to do is to remove the pre-installed antivirus and just go with windows defender and the the free malwarebytes... its all you need. Next thing to do is check for updates in the vantage app, update (I dont recommend bios updates) and then uninstall the vantage app. The next thing to do is download Lenovo Legion toolkit here:

https://github.com/BartoszCicheck...tag/2.21.3

That is essentially Vantage but uses much less resources.

The next thing to do is type "Startup Apps" in the search bar in windows 11.

Disable everything except the realtek audio driver and the windows security notifications.

Reboot..

Next update your geforce drivers (open geforce experience).

Next, install the xbox app and xbox accessories app if you are an xbox controller user and gamepass user.

Next, go into nvidia control panel and make sure in the settings that power management mode says "Maximum performance"

Next, make sure enable G-sync is selected for the laptop display in nvidia control panel.

Next, download steam, gog, and epic games and make sure to get your free weekly epic game (farming sim right now).

next, if you are gamepass user, download the new Hellblade 2 to test your system, its a next-gen game that looks insane on this laptop. Some games are crashing with RTX ray tracing enabled (Witcher 3 for example).

next, go ahead and type startup apps again and disable anything except the mentioned above..

Lastly, remember to user the FN-Q keyboard command often... if you are not gaming, make sure the power light is on blue...

The only negative of this laptop is getting the bottom cover off... took me an hour and i almost threw it againnst the wall... youtube is your friend for a walkthrough... and a guitar pick or something similar. I threw in a samsung 990 2tb for the secondary d: drive for all my games... runs great.

New one with 16gb but i9 for an extra $180 is a better deal in my opinion

That laptop will definitely last a lot longer, but you can probably go cheaper and upgrade later. It really depends on what you need right now. Either way this is a good deal.

I have the 300 nit screen and it's bright enough for indoor use no problem, I'm sure the brighter screen is worth it though (faster response, HDR, brighter).

You should buy that one then. Most people won't even utilize the i7 to its potential. This i7 is more powerful than the 12th gen i9's

I hear you. I had to sell my desktop setup to make room for my daughter but a wireless keyboard and mouse at the dinner table saves me a lot of room.

Everything else being equal, I would take the better screen unless I absolutley needed the the i9. The i7 HX is a powerful CPU (note the X).
