Is there significant difference in screen between (300 nits 165hz) vs (500nits HDR 240htz)?
trying to decide between 2 legion laptops. thanks
Nits you will notice. HDR 400 you may or may not notice (600+ you will though). Hz you won't notice.

Above posted one is refurbished.
Costco has new one for 1400$ with below specs and you get free extended warrenty with Costco Citi card. It was actually in deal last week for 1100$.

You may not notice a huge difference between the CPUs, but if you game, you'll notice the difference between the RTX 4070 in this refurb (or the eBay antonline deal) and the RTX 4060 in the Costco laptop.

First thing to do is to remove the pre-installed antivirus and just go with windows defender and the the free malwarebytes... its all you need. Next thing to do is check for updates in the vantage app, update (I dont recommend bios updates) and then uninstall the vantage app. The next thing to do is download Lenovo Legion toolkit here:

https://github.com/BartoszCicheck...tag/2.21.3

That is essentially Vantage but uses much less resources.

The next thing to do is type "Startup Apps" in the search bar in windows 11.

Disable everything except the realtek audio driver and the windows security notifications.

Reboot..

Next update your geforce drivers (open geforce experience).

Next, install the xbox app and xbox accessories app if you are an xbox controller user and gamepass user.

Next, go into nvidia control panel and make sure in the settings that power management mode says "Maximum performance"

Next, make sure enable G-sync is selected for the laptop display in nvidia control panel.

Next, download steam, gog, and epic games and make sure to get your free weekly epic game (farming sim right now).

next, if you are gamepass user, download the new Hellblade 2 to test your system, its a next-gen game that looks insane on this laptop. Some games are crashing with RTX ray tracing enabled (Witcher 3 for example).

next, go ahead and type startup apps again and disable anything except the mentioned above..

Lastly, remember to user the FN-Q keyboard command often... if you are not gaming, make sure the power light is on blue...

The only negative of this laptop is getting the bottom cover off... took me an hour and i almost threw it againnst the wall... youtube is your friend for a walkthrough... and a guitar pick or something similar. I threw in a samsung 990 2tb for the secondary d: drive for all my games... runs great.

New one with 16gb but i9 for an extra $180 is a better deal in my opinion
The i9 makes sense for VM environments and containers, for gaming solely, you won't see much difference. More so when it won't run full power while gaming because it has to share a power envelope with the GPU.
