I used to worry about picking up my HERO7 after forgetting to charge it before an activity, now I know there's a good chance my HERO11 still has a significant charge on it.
And yes, as someone already said, GoPro 13 is coming out this September. I don't if I would jump on this deal prior to knowing the specs of 13. Good deal though for someone needing a camera for the summer, before the new one comes out. Upgrades are typically very incremental with GoPro.

Most trips you end up walking so the iphone battery does not last long. The gopro is small & handy for videos. Plus you us ethe microsd card to record your footage so it is unlimited unlike the iphone.
Id like to do some walk-around travel clips and road bike footage and was assuming that almost any modern device already solved stabilization for a light use case like that. Does that sound reasonable?
