This ultra slim line fits below the TV or if you have a specific requirement on the dimensions. Otherwise, wait for a deal for the full size Q series soundbar.

Bought the rear speakers 9500s open box like new from bestbuy for $80. Bought this system a while back for $249. Ended up with a great system for $330 would highly recommend at this price point if you can find the rear speakers.

I'm uneducated when it comes to atoms speakers. I personally have a Klipsch atmos soundbar(cinema 800). Is there really an expectation to hear sound behind you and above you with these types of soundbar setups? I'm not smashing any brand here. Just an honest question.

If you need slim then great. If you can afford a bit more room then I recommend a bigger bar. Have the 800, 700 and other series with subs and surrounds (9500 and w510). The slim has the least immersion and power in my opinion but great if you need the aesthetic or space.

These soundbars seem a step backwards by going to 3 speakers from 5/6 speakers...
Dolby Atmos is nice, but it isn't "magic"
Agreed - but Atmos is the big buzzword that they're hoping will turn to sales. I have a full Atmos setup (7.3.4) and if I was using a soundbar I'd much prefer a 5/6 channel setup over an Atmos 3.1.2

I've been refreshing the Best Buy listing for the 9500s rear speakers every day for a month and no open box listing has become available 🫠

It has eARC unlike the 2022/23 B model. So with this new D model here with eARC you'll get lossless/uncompressed audio if your tv supports eARC such as with atmos and dtsx… It does not have an hdmi in so no hdmi 2.1

You have to keep in mind, they are not designed to compete against each other so it's an apples and oranges comparison.

I do agree Atmos on a soundbar is more a selling point.
A soundbar isn't really capable of producing a true representation of what Atmos can do including the bigger bar.

The expectation really is to hear stuff overhead, but if you just have the soundbar and no satellite (back speakers), you're not going to hear things behind you, unless you're maybe in a super small room. Atmos soundbars have speakers that fire up at the ceiling, which bounce the sound back down at you so that it sounds like it's coming from above.

With 5.1.2 systems, you get that overhead sound, plus the back speakers, but those back speakers don't have upfiring speakers in them. If you have a 5.1.4 system, then you'll get the upfiring Atmos speakers in the back speakers as well.

That being said, the amount of overhead sound you get is going to change from movie to movie, and show to show. It depends on the audio mix. I've heard awesome mixes where it sounds like rain is hitting my roof, or jets are flying over, and then I've heard other mixes where I felt like I should have heard that stuff during a scene, but didn't, even though the movie had an Atmos mix. You're not going to get any overhead sound if what you're watching doesn't have the "Dolby Atmos" stamp on it.
