Candle wax has looked like this for millennia (tallow / beeswax). It's only recently that one can buy white or colored candles made from petroleum products. This is kinda the "original" candle color.

Note these are plastic LED's and not the real wax LED's that look much more realistic. I have a set of extra large plastic LED candles that I got for some lanterns because the price was very cheap. But they do not look like the higher end wax candles out there. From a distance they are OK thought. On a good note one review said these were much whiter in person than the picture shows so there's that.
