If you wanted a trap: The propane powered mosquito traps do produce a lot of CO2 and catch a lot. They are like chum in the water and attract mosquitoes to the general area which will probably follow the plumes with all the right odors to find you if you are in the vicinity. So put them far away from your porch to draw mosquitoes away from you. Or give it to your neighbor 😉.
Look for containers and gutters holding water. Especially for the little black and white tiger mosquitoes. Get rid of those larvae habitats and you will reduce mosquitoes quite a bit because they only travel maybe 50 yards from their birthplace, usually far less. But if you live in close quarters with neighbors, you will still get their mosquitoes.
Edit:
iWeasel410 mentioned bucket traps. Those are far more effective than the propane traps and I'm a bit embarrassed I failed to mention them. Take a bucket and fill with some water, enough it won't dry out anytime soon. Toss in some lawn clippings or fish food to feed the bacteria and make it smell like larval mosquito food. Toss in a mosquito dunk. All those eggs that are laid in there are wasted because when they hatch the larvae die.
Don't try to use fish in a bucket trap. Mosquitoes can smell the predators in the water and will avoid it. And unless you stole some Devil's Hole pupfish, you will probably end up cooking the fish in the bucket when the hot summer weather warms up the water to 90+ degrees.

Reviews on Amazon are mixed, mostly complaining about the short cord length. I've got extension cords and I'm not worried about it being a "fire hazard". At $13 each im willing to roll the dice on this one, as moths are definitely attracted to light.

Granted that is the most enjoyable part of these, but still something I wouldn't want happening indoors or near people.
