Studies have confirmed all electric bug zappers, even with UV lights, are bad because they mostly kill good insects and not the bad ones.

These work well to capture all flying bugs, good or bad. It works just OK on mosquitos. If you want to focus on mosquitos, look up "mosquito dunk" or "mosquito bucket of doom", these have been game changers for me.
Entomologist here. This is just a glorified bug zapper and it will kill mostly moths. Mosquitoes are not attracted to UV light all that much. The CO2 from this thing is laughable. Your garden plants emit more CO2 at night. Mosquitoes follow relatively heavy plumes of CO2 and body odors to find you. (Those plumes get smaller as they drift away and diffuse, but this starts off minuscule).

If you wanted a trap: The propane powered mosquito traps do produce a lot of CO2 and catch a lot. They are like chum in the water and attract mosquitoes to the general area which will probably follow the plumes with all the right odors to find you if you are in the vicinity. So put them far away from your porch to draw mosquitoes away from you. Or give it to your neighbor 😉.

Look for containers and gutters holding water. Especially for the little black and white tiger mosquitoes. Get rid of those larvae habitats and you will reduce mosquitoes quite a bit because they only travel maybe 50 yards from their birthplace, usually far less. But if you live in close quarters with neighbors, you will still get their mosquitoes.

Edit:
iWeasel410 mentioned bucket traps. Those are far more effective than the propane traps and I'm a bit embarrassed I failed to mention them. Take a bucket and fill with some water, enough it won't dry out anytime soon. Toss in some lawn clippings or fish food to feed the bacteria and make it smell like larval mosquito food. Toss in a mosquito dunk. All those eggs that are laid in there are wasted because when they hatch the larvae die.

Don't try to use fish in a bucket trap. Mosquitoes can smell the predators in the water and will avoid it. And unless you stole some Devil's Hole pupfish, you will probably end up cooking the fish in the bucket when the hot summer weather warms up the water to 90+ degrees.

I just purchased a 1/2 acre dynatrap outdoor unit from my Sams Club (in-store) for $49. I liked the fact that if I have any issues with it ever, I can return/exchange it. Just an alternative option to woot, seeing it listed at $69 on the sams site was but marked $49 in store and verified the lower price on my receipt.

I was literally JUST TALKING about getting something to trap these damn miller months that are invading my home, and as I was discussing it this deal popped up for the $13 indoor/outdoor bug killer lamps. In for 2 thanks OP

Reviews on Amazon are mixed, mostly complaining about the short cord length. I've got extension cords and I'm not worried about it being a "fire hazard". At $13 each im willing to roll the dice on this one, as moths are definitely attracted to light.

It's tough. We can't use our backyard anymore during summer. We are surrounded by trees, so it's hard to know good or bad when they all just molest us

Primarily kills harmless moths. Never seen a mosquito or a wasp in ours.

if used outdoors it will kill everything ,but indoors it fair game
I don't think you want this indoors. It literally vaporizes and explodes the insects sending their particles everywhere.

Granted that is the most enjoyable part of these, but still something I wouldn't want happening indoors or near people.

Bought one at Costco and returned it. Like others have said, it doesn't affect mosquitoes, just moths.

I bought one from woot when it was on sale last July. It does work but the downside is that it traps every type of bug. I put some meat in it this spring to catch wasps before they start multiplying. You have to use some sort of bait for mosquitos also.

You may need to spray. I had to and it worked great. Didn't spry last summer and paid dearly. My friends have marigold plants around their deck and they say those help. I only go on the deck when it's breezy. They aren't as bad. Good luck
