Gimmick ,you can get a dot of $15 that does same thing
That's like saying, "Buy a Ford Model T instead of a Cadillac. It does the same thing."

I'm so fed up with my dot and Alexa getting dumber and dumber. And now, Amazon is toying with the idea of charging for Alexa. I just want to control my hue lights without issues and have been saying I think it is time for Homepod minis around the house. But, at this price, ordered 4 and will flip one or two if I don't want to use them all. And if that fails, 30 day return. Thanks slickdeals!
Ughh, just saw this. Are they actually going to force that fee on all users? I thought I read something about them having a different AI-specific version of Alexa that they would charge for while the original version would be free? Is that no longer the case? If so, then I may need to consider, reluctantly, switching to Apple Frown I wonder if Apple will eventually start wanting to charge for Siri too... lol

Just bought 2 based on the comments, didn't even need it. One thing I want to add is that while there is a 30 day returns policy, there seems to be a restocking fee of $50 (for each audio item - Homepods in this case). Someone correct me if I am wrong.

One thing I read, that makes perfect sense, is that they are dumbing down alexa currently, and then will keep it "free", but charge for a better service with more features. I don't think apple will charge for Siri, since they make the money off the phones and hardware. Amazon has always kind of done the loss approach on Alexa devices, hoping to make it up with increased sales on Amazon. But, that didn't pan out, because no one is ordering crap from an Echo Dot. I just don't like Amazon like I used to. I'm using Walmart Plus way more, and really just want out of the ecosystem now that they are also locking down their FireTV OS moving forward. All while the EU is forcing Apple to open up. Adding emulators was the last big thing I was missing being an Apple person!

You can sweeten this deal by using the AMEX Offer of 10% back on Wireless Bill if you've it.

I received email confirming this after the transaction went through.

YMMV of course.
Just confirmed with an agent that it is indeed eligible. However, they did say "Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 6/22/2024, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase." So I wonder if this is considered as a "qualifying " purchase. Didn't want to ask the agent and throw myself under the bus

Says free returns right on the post. Screenshot that and if you need to return it, fight it out with your rep then. They would take it back for free.
Returns Policy says there is a $50 restocking fee.

I did. Tried Apple Pay. PayPal. Different cards. No dice.
Very strangely, I had to get Apple Pay approval and then complete checkout. I've never had that extra step when using Apple Pay.

Great deal, just purchased 2 of them.

This price makes me think they'll be introducing a newer version at their WWDC next week. But this version came out in Q1 2023, so it feels a little too soon for them to have an updated version.
It won't be updated. Maybe discontinued if! More likely will be expanded software with AI stuff to boost sales which apple needs on these and other products. Not an apple fan, but it's time for apple to make big announcement

Now I know these can't compete with say a true $600 + system using recommendations from Reddit, but is there anything in the $350 range that could be better than two of these? Note this is only focusing on sound quality, not other hardware / software benefits.

Trying to decide on the HomePods or the Sonos Era 100 2 speaker deal from Costco for $375.

Is it worth it to definitely get 2, or would I be ok with just 1 for now to try it out?

In for one. I remember last time I ordered a pair of Sony in ear wireless headphones that were on huge markdowns from Verizon and they cancelled my order. Let's hope they don't do that again.

Ordered two, but also just purchased one from Best Buy a couple of weeks ago for $100 more. Tried a price match, but Verizon is not one of the vendors they will consider for price match. If anyone comes across another store matching this price, please post! Don't really want to return.
