Grabbed one. Used Verizon doll hairs to bring it down to $154. Sonos house here but want to mess around with Ecobee Premium Siri again, which requires any HomePod. Just in case ecobee Siri gets superpowers after wwdc. Going in my office to replace the IKEA Symfonisk that I pair with  Studio Display. Also not sure how to explain to the wife… 😅 Thanks OP!

Edit: Got the confirmation email as I wrote my post. I am a Verizon customer.

FYI. They send an email once order is placed to confirm and then 30 minutes later that it has been received. If you didn't receive the first one it's unlikely you actually ordered.

Same. I bought 1 but now I am starting to overthink if I should have bought 2. Haha. I am a Sonos user so that is why not 2... just yet. Just want to try it out as I am fan of Apple quality.
Lol. Same boat. Sonos has been getting on my nerves a bit. I recently added Apple TV and love it. Curious the sound quality difference vs.an Arc.

we have everything apple except this. We have Alexa. Is it worth switching over?
If you are living in the Apple ecosystem for hardware (iPhones/iPads/Macs/etc) and services (Apple Music being the primary concern here), then the HomePod and/or Minis will provide the best integrated experience. We've had Echo devices in the past, used Spotify and Apple Music with both Echoes and HomePods, and settled on a HomePod and Minis with Apple Music as the smoothest experience--especially if you are in a multi-user environment.

Yeah, Siri is not great, but at this point we don't ask her anything beyond simple questions we know she'll answer (weather, what time does our favorite sports team play, etc), tell her to play music, and issue smart home commands--and she handles those well enough. Alexa may have understood better overall, but we didn't really ask any more of her than we do Siri.

As speakers for a tv with an Apple TV box yes. To replace Alexa as a personal assistant no. Siri is absolutely bad compared to Alexa. But Apple did and is still buying tons of AI companies maybe they will get it right one day.

The original HomePods had problems with component-level failures and they're generally considered to be ticking timebombs. You'll find people online saying that the first generation had better audio quality and I really couldn't disagree more. The first gen had a bass-heavy EQ which many people equate to being good, but MOAR BASS is not always a good thing. The current model has great low-end extension without muddying up everything you play through it. It also has way better high-end clarity.
I have never encountered a Gen 1 in the wild, so I have no comparison to the sound of our Gen 2. That being said, considering the praise for the sound quality of both, I was initially disappointed at how little low end the Gen 2 HomePod had. Great clarity and quality, but thin, tinny sound--for the most part. I had purchased a refurb from Apple at the time, after troubleshooting with support they swapped it out on the guess that something was wrong with it. The replacement sounded about the same, maybe ever so slightly better.

After a few weeks of living with it I happened to stumble across the culprit while playing classical: Apple Music ATMOS. I had played an older classical piece that was non-ATMOS, and it had depth and satisfying bass. I then happened to play the Star Wars: A New Hope theme song for my boys, and it sounded awful--weak, thin. Compared the two, saw the older track was not ATMOS. Turned off ATMOS in the Home app settings, and the Star Wars theme sounded great, proper body and depth to the song. Maybe this isn't an issue with stereo pair HomePods, I only have one so I can't test that. I would say it is worth turning off ATMOS in the Home app if you run a single HomePod Gen 2 to see if it makes a difference:

Home app > three-dot circle in the upper right > Home Settings. Under the People section, tap your Apple account name. Under Connected Media, tap Apple Music. Toggle off Dolby ATMOS.

I bought a pair for stereo. Used my AmEx and had no issues on the order process unlike some here. Purchased 3pm yesterday and immediately got a tracking number via FedEx. They're scheduled to arrive by 10am today (signature req'd).

That's less than 24 hours!

SoCal resident here and the tracking shows they are coming from Redlands, CA which is only an hour away from my house.

Mine shipped. Now I'm debating whether I should get a second one even though I don't need it and my space isn't great for two...

I go to Tell me about yourself page - fill it out click continue - nothing? Anyone else having this issue???

EDIT: It was my last name - doesn't like apostrophes - but it didn't give me a warning. Stupid. I bought two BTW. Never has these before - it will be interesting to hear them connected to my Apple TV.
