This a scam !! My bank blocked payment which would have gone to some entity in Spain, not Verizon !
Had to cancel my credit card
Do not attempt to purchase this - It's a scam !
Definitely not a scam. Opened it up directly through the website and I ordered one. Not sure how you could get scammed in this.

Agree. Have to say that post (along with people saying their order was canceled) convinced me to not order a 2nd one. Reconsidering that though 😂

Just ordered one. I already have 3 first gen and a few minis. I'm going to use this so I can stereo pair a couple of first gens with my Apple TV 4K. See how it compares to my Sonos ARC soundbar.

BTW: Do any of you actually know *where* the return label would be printed? Is there an option available on the "Track your order" page that will appear after the items have been delivered? How are you supposed to get a return label?

Usually it's included in the box when they shipped to you the item. I think you should be able to return at the store

Is there a big difference? Which is better? Is the first gen good enough it's worth buying used?
The original HomePods had problems with component-level failures and they're generally considered to be ticking timebombs. You'll find people online saying that the first generation had better audio quality and I really couldn't disagree more. The first gen had a bass-heavy EQ which many people equate to being good, but MOAR BASS is not always a good thing. The current model has great low-end extension without muddying up everything you play through it. It also has way better high-end clarity.

Geez, this thread and the comments around Alexa have really gotten me thinking about the future of Alexa and if I should consider getting rid of all our Echoes, Fire TV stuff and any other Amazon Fire/Echo/Alexa devices we may have... but then I'd have to turn to Siri and likely Apple Music (neither of which I'm invested in). The outlook seems bleak. I remember when I foolishly thought Google Play Music was the future and uploaded a bunch of my CDs to the cloud via mp3. Now all of those are 'lost' and/or 'obscurely hidden' in Youtube Music Frown

At this point, all we really want to be able to do is ask Alexa or Siri for simple things (like measurement conversions while in the kitchen, or the time, or for a joke, math calculations, etc) or for my wife to be able to play her favorite music without being talked back to: "I'm sorry, you can only do that with the paid subscription of Amazon Music" blah blah blah... it seems we can do all this *currently* but sounds like some or all of these things may slowly be taken away?

I'm planning to switch over to home pods. The echo and echo dots used to be nice but they're constantly not working now for me. Alexa has seemed progressively dumber as well
