Google Nest > Amazon Alexa > Apple Home Pod.

Own all 3 and they sit on the same counter because they all suck in their own way.

Google is the best if you like to ask questions (but expect to rephrase it a couple of times). I'm really hoping one of these 3 companies brings a real AI like Chat GPT to the smart assistant environment.

Amazon is the best if you want an intercom system where you can do a live mic/speaker drop into any other room with one (great for kids in a big house). You can play your audible books. When you ask it a question it frequently uses an Alexa contributor answer which isn't as broad as Google in its knowledge.

Apple is best for the speaker quality and playing Apple Music. It has the benefit of being able to control your Apple TV so you only need to say Hey Siri play the tv show Futurama, or rewind 30 seconds for it to control your TV. The downside of Apple is that Google pays Apple to be their default search engine so whenever you ask it a question outside the celebrity category it frequently defaults to offering to send you the search results to your phone.

How tf can I disable Dolby Audio on these things? I've followed every procedure online but still Blink-182 albums sound like garbage because of Dolby and it's infuriating.

How are these compared to Google's Nest Audio speakers? I've been thinking about migrating but not sure if it's worth it. I care primarily about sound quality; I barely ever use voice commands.

Glad I stocked up on these during AAFES $49 deal. They are a solid little speaker at this price.

The Nest Audios are a lot bigger and sound a lot better - no defeating physics here. I got a pair of the Nest Audio a few years ago on sale for $100, which must be the greatest audio bargain of all time. They put out genuine, high-fidelity sound. I actually slightly prefer them to my Sonos Ones, even though they Nest cost much less. But with any of these speakers, you really need a stereo pair - they just sound much, much better that way.

Hmm... I would guess it's a small thing? Perhaps, all the small things? Wink

Yes. They need to be plugged in to an electrical outlet.
