I think it has always been 24 months. The Sapphires I believe are 48 months.
You have to earn the 125k points in the same calendar year to get the companion pass. Best practice for companion pass is to get the Biz around Nov, complete your spend dec so your bonus points post in Jan. Also get the personal in Dec and complete your spend so your bonus posts in Jan. This way you get to keep the pass for a full 24 months.

I was recently told by multiple people at Chase (or whoever the customer service number is) you are only eligible for 1 cardholder bonus every 24 months and not 1 for each card you get. Anyone know if this is true? .
False as a general rule among all Chase cards. True in the more limited sense that you can only get 1 bonus every 24 month for the Southwest 'family' of personal cards, or 1 bonus every 48 months for the Sapphire family of cards.

So if I sign up and earn the 85k points bonus but won't need to use points for a while, say a year or two, will I lose points if I cancel card after meeting requirements? If not how do you access the points? Do they go on to your southwest account separate from the credit card account once earned?
As a previous poster said "The points go onto your southwest account after each billing cycle and will stay there. You will not lose the points."

HOWEVER...At one point I know was true...someone correct me if this is no longer the case.... if you plan on using redeeming the SW rapid rewards points for merchant gift cards (i.e. not for flights), then you need to have the SW credit card open.

How do you end up getting that bonus? Is there a spot on the application to put the referral info?
Have spouse go to Chase credit Card Referral page (google it, it comes up as Refer-A-Friend) and enter your wife's info and get a special link there that is special to your spouse. Apply from that specific referral link.

Then, your spouse will get the referral points

The spouse (or other person) needs to have a Southwest card....not just any Chase card.

Chase allows Southwest card holders to refer the Southwest offer
Chase allows Sapphire card holders to refer the Sapphire card offer
etc etc (but no referrals between different card families)

If your spouse doesnt have a Southwest card and you want to help out a family member or a friend or an office mate who does have a Chase Southwest card, use his/her referral link and you will get him/her a 20k bonus ----- and you will still get the full 85k bonus for yourself (same exact offer for you). And maybe someday they will return the favor to you by needing your referral. Me and my officemates do this for each other.

P.S. The Southwest sale going on right now with code BDAY is pretty good, especially for TUESDAYS and SATURDAY flights.

Did they get rid of a card (personal)? I just signed my mom up last week for a $99 annual fee southwest card that had no foreign transaction fees but i dont see that as an option for consumer cards. Or maybe it was this card and they raised the AF.

Edit: it was the SW rapid rewards "premier" card. Just Checked. Still available. $99 fee instead if $149 and no foreign transaction fees. You don't get the annual flight credit though.

Charge the needed amount in the first month and pay it off including the fee before statement even closes. As soon as the points hit your account, cancel the card and the fee will be refunded

This seems too good to be true. They don't rescind the points?

Can you get 2 different southwest business cards at once? And will it count towards a companion pass?

Chase currently doesn't claw back points like AMEX. But this would be very short sited given Chase has very lucrative bonuses. I wouldn't do anything to risk that incase they ever change policies going forward.

Yes, the SW business card bonus' are on their own 24 month timer, not a shared timer.

So you can either get one of each of the SW biz cards...

Or you can also get multiple of the same SW biz card for different businesses. That also works.
